Born October 18, 1956 in Leningrad in a Jewish family. His father, A. A. Yelchin, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, was a football player of the first squad (1946) and coach of the DKA Khabarovsk (Yelchin’s book Arkady’s Goal, 2014 is based on his father’s biography). Mother - Elena Yakovlevna Yelchina (1920-2009), worked as a ballet teacher at the Leningrad State Choreographic School named after A. Ya. Vaganova. As a child, his parents encouraged him to pursue art. Eugene spent a lot of time behind the scenes of the Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre; the father, a connoisseur of painting, constantly went with his son to the State Hermitage Museum.
In 1979 he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography (LGITMiK). Цйфыву (talk) 11:42, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
