Full Name

Are There any sources that her full name is "Evanna Meghan Naomi Lynch"? Wookieface 11:07, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2121541/bio I think it's acceptable as a reference seeing as it is an actress profile so I'l add it to the page. AiselneDrossel 11:04, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Wish To Edit

Hello all. I wish to edit this page to ad the website of Evanna Lynch. I am very newly registered and want to know how to do it. My id is kknupp. Please someone tell me something. my email is theexplodieator [at] gmail [dot] com. Please contact me with help. NO SPAMERS!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a bunch --Kknupp 05:02, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I'm newly registered too. I just wanted to edit something that was written in this article, but I can't edit it. It said Evanna Lynch has dark brown hair, but that is definetly not true. I think it might have been a typo or something. I have seen pictures of Evanna before getting her hair bleached for Luna and it was definetly dark blond. Also, how do you sign off? HI Their is one thing that should be added to this page in the personal life section on here. her website (the link next)[1] it's say she's a vegetarian and suports animal charities so i think that should be added if you look on other wiki pages (people that are vegetarians they have it written on there, i think it was their before but someone deleted it i don't think someone put up a source but i have given you one above so can the person that edits this page add it in thank you oxoxo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jossluver (talkcontribs) 00:35, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Unneeded Information

This is getting far out of hand. We, as encyclopedia readers, don't care about her bedroom wall color, or her Golden Snitch fingernail designs.

Just because most people don't care, still a bunch of people care and it should not be removed.
The concern is that it is inappropriate for an encyclopedic article, and belongs rather on a fan site.
I think the anecdote about her going to the book opening is kind of relevant, as it relates to her interest in the Harry Potter novels, which motivated her to audition for the part of Luna Lovegood. The bedroom wall colour is probably a bit much though. Landithy 01:46, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
The level of detail about her room is pretty bad...I mean, really, who cares? It's just as easy to say she doll'd her room up in Harry POtter junk and was a fan. Yoshifumi 02:30, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Room color details are going way over the top. Read a few other articles on Wikipedia and you will see no one else has specific mentions to the color of the ways in their bedroom.Johnpacklambert 03:24, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Articles from unison.ie

Reference 3 cites this article from the "Drogheda Independent" (a free registration is needed to read it): "Evanna let out of hospital to get Potter book", June 26, 2003. Should it be replaced?

There is also a long interview with the actress: "It’s an amazing character and I love playing Luna", February 8, 2006

--M.Marangio 10:18, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

There's a list of the interviews on www.Evannalynch.net for a list of the interviews with 'Drogheda Independant' and others. Very useful source.

There's something wrong

Evanna didn't start at the end of February. She started filming on February 6th - the same day as filming began. It was also her first day on the set. Vavz

She was probabily on the set, but she said in the interview linked above:
When do you start filming and how long will it take?
Well, for me it doesn't start until March but some of the actors are already back. The filming goes from February til October but I won't be constantly filming the whole time. Some months are heavy, others not so much. Filming is completely off for June because some of the actors have exams.
--M.Marangio 01:01, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Evanna does not have dark brown hair. I have seen pictures of her pre-Luna, and her hair was dark BLOND. Could some user change this? Since I'm recently registered I can't. Thanks. Luna'sPatronus 17:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

About her picture, I find it curious that both her and Luna's pictures have been deleted for no apparent reason, while all the other characters have retained theirs. In many of the other cases the other character/actor's pictures were sourced directly from WB publicity shots, just as Luna/Evanna's were...smear campaign, perhaps?

Don't get too worked up about it and don't start developing conspiracy theories. Nothing sneaky or suspicious has gone on here. It's simple enough of a reason why they were deleted: the user who uploaded them simply didn't tag them. If they don't tag them correctly, they get deleted because Wikipedia could get into trouble if they don't have permission to use them. Once they are tagged correctly, the image can remain on Wikipedia's servers and can be used in the articles. --pIrish talk, contribs 12:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

MuggleNet Citation

I'm not sure how to add citations here, but re: citation needed for the statement "[Evanna] is an avid reader of the Harry Potter fansite MuggleNet": (not really an interview, just a very high-profile fan participating in a fan show), Evanna refered directly to mugglenet, twice, when she participated in a recent call-in episode of the PotterCast podcast (a podcast from a different fansite). While not absolutely explicit, it's fairly clear from her statements ("—it was on MuggleNet, I'm sorry—" ...and... "Just tell MuggleNet, I'm sorry. I'm not betraying them.")[2] given in context the actress feels some loyalty towards mugglenet over the numerous other fansites that exist.

Further to that, in the comments related to said podcast, one of the conductee's of the show directly states: "she has plenty of press to do, and wants to do a full, real interview on [MuggleCast] first (she wants to honor the first HP fan site she frequented, and the one she frequents most often), which we support." [3].

Thanks, Bryanc! I'll add the citation in a minute. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 06:02, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Trivia

I removed the trivia section per guidelines. I added sourced info to the article (and also did lots of wikignome-like cleanup) and moved unsourced stuff here, maybe people can find sources.

  • Evanna was asked to do a screen test just a few short weeks after being asked to come back again after the tryouts, and three days later received a call saying she had got the part of Luna.
  • She makes beaded jewelry and made the radish earrings to be used in The Order of the Phoenix herself.

Thanks — Gary Kirk // talk! 13:29, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

This is the earrings ref, though I'm not sure where to incorporate it into the article and am running out the door in a couple minutes: [1]. --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 13:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Evanna's "cup size"

...is neither cited, nor particularly appropriate. I'm removing it.

Whats the harm of this info? i bet a lot of people want to know

LOL Lopsider321 12:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

If they want to know the breast size of a 15-year-old girl that badly, I'm sure they can find it. Elsewhere. It's not appropriate for this site. Katharineamy 13:34, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Her cup size? Now that's a bit creepy. Talking about her room is one thing, talking about her breasts, however...

This is an encyclopedia.. Not.. Hardcore fansite.. And I'm sure listing the breast size of a 15 year old girl is sexual harassment. =_) ĞavinŤing 13:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
That is more than a little creepy. And considering her age, decidedly inappropriate. Besides, it's not really relevant to what she's notable for in any way. I mean, if it was an article about Dolly Parton or one of those porn actresses with gigantic implants, it would be different, because they're famous for (amongst other things) their unusual breast size. And I don't even want to know how anyone found out about Lynch's cup-size to begin with. Landithy 06:35, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Was it in a reliable source?AuricBlofeld (talk) 09:28, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Removed info from Personal life

I removed the following info:

"Lynch's bedroom is orange and has turquoise quotations from the Harry Potter books on the walls. She was extremely excited about meeting Rowling because, as she put it, meeting the one person who created it all was really fun. She says she is a die-hard Harry Potter fan as she believes the books are really a relaxing way for her and she has always been "mesmerized" by Harry Potter.[2]"

The source was dead, but I found a cached version at http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:nxTA71MIAsAJ:www.evannalynch.com/evannalynchbiography . Unless I'm mistaken, this is/was just a fansite that doesn't cite its sources, amplified by it now being a advertersing page. – sgeureka t•c 18:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Not as if Wiki's on anything regarding Harry Potter aren't fanboi/girl'ish enough. Yoshifumi 01:33, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

'Best Known For'

To be fair, this is the ONLY thing she is publicly known for. Harry Potter and the OotP is the only film or TV show she has appeared in. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.128.214.161 (talkcontribs) 14:32, 5 August 2007.

Middle Name

Hi! I wish to edit this site because, as a close personal friend of Evanna's, I know that her middle name is NOT Meghan! A lot of the fan mail she gets now refers to this name and it is driving her crazy as she doesn't particularly like the name. Her middle names are Patricia Anastasia. I have already attempted to change the site but someone realtered it. I have no idea where the notion that her name contained Meghan came from as it was never officially released. If you are not willing to accept the names Patricia Anastasia to be authentic could you, at the very least, please remove the name Meghan from this profile as it is completely wrong. Many thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EmiJ (talkcontribs) 06:58, 6 August 2007.

I would have changed it, but these 2 sites: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2121541/bio and http://www.flixster.com/actor/evanna-lynch say her middle name contains Meghan, so I'm not sure if your information is right. - Nick C 20:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, because those two sites are a lot more likely to know the exact and specific details of her middle name than one of her best friends. =P You know, IMDB once claimed that Richard Simmons was going to provide the voice acting for Tingle in The Legend of Zelda - so, it's not the most reliable of resources, then. Why not just exercise the benefit of the doubt? It is pretty unlikely that anyone would fabricate a source as sincerely genuine as the one above, after all. And considering how few citations of her middle name there are on the net, isn't it more than likely that "Meghan" isn't right? Go on, just change it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Banjo-Fella (talkcontribs) 15:07, 7 August 2007.
Give us proof that EmiJ actually knows her, or that her middle names are really Patricia Anastasia, and we'll change it. I don't see why you think it's "pretty unlikely" that someone would claim to be a celebrity's best friend when they aren't - it happens all the time. Katharineamy 20:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, it's not about whether or not she's her friend, is it? I suppose that could be disputable, if you're going to be bluntly realistic about it. But still, what she said still stands. I don't think the odds are very likely that somebody would try to get the name changed to something as innocuous and plausible as what was suggested if it wasn't the truth. I don't have any proof other than that speculation. Anyway, she mainly wanted to clarify that "Meghan" was wrong, even if her alternative wouldn't be accepted. And seeing as the grounds for "Meghan" being correct are equally insubstantial, why not just remove the "Meghan" bit for the moment, until some other citation can be found, or something? --Banjo-Fella 00:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

The fact that there is no reputable or reliable source which confirms that Evanna's name contains "Meghan", or "Naomi" for that matter, surely means that, in accordance with good journalistic etiquette, these names should be removed from this website. I realise that none of you have any reason to believe that I am a close acquaintance of Evanna and so may question the credibility of my information. However if you do come upon an appropriate means of establishing the authenticity of my claims, I would be happy to comply. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EmiJ (talkcontribs)

Yup, done. AulaTPN 23:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I can think of plenty of ways to establish whether User:EmiJ is a close friend of the subject, but that still wouldn't make her a reliable source according to WP policy. On the other hand, it would perhaps give her access to documentation which we would accept. Matchups 12:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Picture

I just wanted to improve this article by adding the picture of Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood in the latest HP movie. I was certain this was a right thing to do, because, well, this is what happens with almost every HP character/actor. However, this action was almost immediately undone by Deskana, leaving me this message: "Fair use images are not allowed to be used to depict living people, like the one you added to Evanna Lynch. Please see the fair use criteria. Thank you. --Deskana (banana) 20:24, 18 August 2007 (UTC)".

As I am not much of a Wikipedian, I decided to check up on the fair use criteria. I couldn't find anything about depicting living people there, so I decided to check upon other pictures from another actor (in this case, Tonks/Natalia Tena). It is apparently the same situation, both are movie screenshots. However, given that there are at least several comparable cases which are tolerated, I wonder why it is wrong here.

If someone would clarify this, one would make me happy to learn something new ;). Thank you. :)

Please forgive me my lack of make-up, I have not much of a clue about that on Wikipedia and I find it a bit too much to research that for a message like this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by punksmurf (talkcontribs) 15:52, 18 August 2007.

It would be inconsistent if a movie screenshot of Evanna Lynch is allowed on the page Luna Lovegood but not on this page. The URL for the image of Luna Lovegood is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ootp006.jpg 216.215.128.27 08:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
The only way to illustrate the fictional character of Luna Lovegood is through the careful use of copyrighted material--because she only exists in those places. Evanna Lynch on the other hand is a real person who lives in the real world where real Wikipedians (or others) can take libre pictures of her. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 16:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
WP:FUC#1. Any usage of a copyright image to depict Evanna would be replaceable, as someone could take a photo of her themselves that adequatly conveys the same information. Therefore, fair use images are not acceptable. Thank you for raising the image on the talk page rather than just undoing me like a lot of people do. :-) --Deskana (apples) 12:20, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Well... you undid my edit, for which you obviously had your reason. So undoing that again would be kind of rude and stupid. I can fully follow your reasoning, but I wondered why a similar picture was allowed in other cases (as was the case with Natalia Tena, whose picture by now is replaced). I understand these have slipped the attention of you and the other people watching over this kind of use. Anyway, I can find a myriad of pictures of her using Google, but as I am not sure about the copyright of these images (I believe fan-sites are a bit less careful about this than Wikipedia is) I will refrain from using them, just in case.
In order for its use to be acceptable here, the website it is on must explicitly state the source, and must also explicitly state the copyright as Createive Commons, GFDL, or some other free license. --Deskana (apples) 13:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
The general rule of thumb is that the character page "can" be a copyrighted version of the actor. But the biography page of the actor itself cannot contain a copyrighted picture of the actor. This is the unofficial stand however, but can be used a sort of rule of thumb. That said, does anyone want to go take photos of Evanna Lynch for the benefit of the public domain? ĞavinŤing 14:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Only just learnt that it's not allowed to use her movie depiction, my mistake. --Jammy (talk) 23:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Could this image be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, I think it's a free image, and it's a great picture to use in this article. 81.165.229.50 (talk) 14:38, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately no, as the person who took the picture did not release it under a Creative Commons license (you can see on the right hand side of the page under "Additional Information" the phrase "All Rights Reserved" whereas we would need to see "Some Rights Reserved" and even then it would depend on which rights the author reserved). faithless (speak) 20:57, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Possible images?

Bleached hair?

I don't think Evanna had dark blonde hair before she was in the film, because there is at least one video of her on YouTube that was made before she started filming and her hair was just as it is now. Does anyone have a citation to prove that her hair was dyed for the film? If not, I'd remove that statement. Also, it would make quite little sense to dye her hair light blonde, as the character Luna is described as having "dirty blonde hair", so why would the film people change it to the "wrong" colour? Lynch's knowledge of Potter lore

Something that's missing from this article is that several articles on Lynch have indicated that she has occasionally acted as a "walking Potter encyclopedia" on set, answering questions for the filmmakers. I know there's at least one article on HBP that mentions this, and I remember hearing about this when Phoenix came out. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 14:24, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Improving the article from Emma Watson

I plan on improving this article by using the featured article Emma Watson as a generic template because they are both actresses and models to have appeared in the Harry Potter series. A free image would be nice. The lead is essentially done, except Evanna's first modelling campaign must be added. Also, if a reference exists to verify how much Lynch has and will earn from the Potter films, but I doubt one is likely to exist. Otherwise the lead is complete, unless of course she announces her involvement in a non-Harry Potter production.. Early life and personal life needs a lot of work. Otherwise, Career --> Harry Potter need some cleaning up; this should be four paragraphs long (until Deathly Hallows comes out): casting, ootp, hbp, dh filming, and Career --> Modelling needs to be created. Note: There are many fansites for this actress, and while they are useful for collecting references, they cannot be used as them. Alex Douglas (talk) 15:45, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Notes:
• Only use the Harry Potter Automatic News Aggregator (HPANA) or The Leaky Cauldron (TLC) as sources were more reliable sources do not exist.
• Only use the plethora of Evanna Lynch fansites as "gateways to resources".
• Evanna's hair colour, dying, length, extensions, etc should not be mentioned. Emma Watson dyes her hair and Jason Isaacs wears a wig. It's not of significant importance.
• "Several" means greater than two. Should be changed until Lynch gets more nominations.
Michael Dwyer of The Irish Times ranked her as the Best Irish Actor of 2009.[3]
Country Life is a high-quality reliable source; it is owned by a Time Warner subsidiary.
Lynch lists her interests as dancing, yoga and reading.[4] (fansite ref)

Possible WikiProject Harry Potter revival

I've contacted a number of active editors that are/were WikiProject Harry Potter participants. Alex Douglas (talk) 11:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, I mostly just do Wiki-Gnoming, when it comes to improving articles. But I can proofread and edit at the micro level. I'm afraid I won't be of much help on sourcing and such. Useight (talk) 14:58, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Fashion

"She made her character's pair of radish-shaped earrings for the Order of the Phoenix film. She made and helped design a number of her character's fashion accessories for the Half-Blood Prince film." -- I am having doubts as so where this should be included, if anywhere: Career --> Fashion and modelling, or Personal life? Alex Douglas (talk) 14:28, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Unless it's got a reliable source, it doesn't belong anywhere at all. If it can be verified it's a nice anecdote to demonstrate her interest in, and talent for, fashion. But it needs citing to stay in anywhere. Happymelon 14:34, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

I agree with the above statement. Although it does show her well-rounded personality, it is not about her personally. It at least needs a source.Tarheel95 (talk) 17:59, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
In the lead, I don't think this ---> "she is unsure about her future plans" is needed, in my opinion, it fits better in the mainspace than the lead.
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
    C. It contains no original research:
    Is "hollywoodnews.com" a reliable source?
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
Not that much to do. If the statements above can be answered, I will pass the article. Good luck!

I've removed "she is unsure about her future plans" from the lead. I have also removed "and participated in a webcast, to help raise funds for humanitarian aid for the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake" from the the 'Personal life' section, because "hollywoodnews.com" is not a reliable source, and although I've tried I have not found a reliable source for it. Thank you very much for the review! Alex Douglas (talk) 09:37, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Thank you to Alex Douglas for getting the stuff I left at the talk page, because I have gone off and placed the article as GA. Congrats. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, kindly. I used some of your FA edits, namely Kirsten Dunst and Maggie Gyllenhaal, as guides when editing this article, so thank you, for that and for the review. I'll continue to work on this article; it's currently being peer reviewed and I'm hoping it'll someday become a featured article. Alex Douglas (talk) 16:44, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome for the review, just doing my part. I'm glad you used my FAs as an example; I'm glad that my work is being recognized and stuff... or whatever I guess. :) I really hope that the peer review process can help you to get Lynch to FA. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:30, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Category:Irish Roman Catholics

Willthacheerleader18 - How the church defines its membership is irrelevant. WP:BLPCAT states "...regarding religious beliefs and sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief or orientation in question; and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to his notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources." Category:Irish Roman Catholics reinforces this itself: "Members of the Roman Catholic Church, either past or present for whom their membership was or is a defining characteristic or related to their notability and where the person has self-indentified as a Roman Catholic." BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 10:43, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Bastun, thank you very much for explaining the category. After reading the category description, I definitely agree with you. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 01:27, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Addressing concerns about tone

As brought up at this article's FAC, there are concerns about the tone of the article. To conclusively find the most suitable tone for the article, specifically the 'Career' section, I have searched through all of the reviews of Lynch's films from Rotten Tomatoes to find phrases, sentences and paragraphs regarding Lynch's performance; I have listed them all below. If you feel I have made a mistake categorizing a review, feel free to change it. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 15:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Note about paragraphs and sections, etc, other than the Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince paragraphs: The lead and 'early life' section states toneless "facts", things that occurred and are referenced in reliable sources. The first paragraph of the 'Career' section: the first two sentences are again toneless "facts", the second and final two sentences are views by, in my opinion, the two most significant people: Heyman (the only producer of all Harry Potter films, who was also involved in the casting of the principal cast) and Rowling (the writer of all the source material, including characterization). The 'personal life' and 'filmography' sections are again toneless "facts". If you have any specific concerns regarding the tone of any phrase, sentence or paragraph in the article, the please discuss it below. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 15:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Order of the Phoenix

Positive
  1. The most important new addition is Evanna Lynch as fellow student Luna Lovegood. Lynch made headlines as the winner of a casting contest; a lifelong Harry Potter fanatic, she had never acted before. But Lynch’s performance is not just some a casting gimmick. She’s the real deal, an enchanting lass who breathes life into her character. Her character is a calm in the middle of a great storm, and Lynch brings a quiet honest and a gentle quirkiness to that calm. In a cast filled with the best of the best, Lynch is a standout, and a genuine discovery for the ages. [6]
  2. Evanna Lynch, whose abstracted lilt makes her Luna Lovegood the one juvenile with a touch of individuality. [7]
  3. Evanna Lynch also does a stellar job as the somewhat eccentric Luna Lovegood. [8]
  4. Lynch stole practically every scene she was in. [9]
  5. And then there is Evanna Lynch; considering how little practice she has relative to the rest of the cast, it's almost
  6. And then there is Evanna Lynch, making her professional debut in the surprisingly hefty role of Luna Lovegood, the ditzy mystic fellow schoolmate who is introduced without fanfare; considering how little practice she has relative to the rest of the cast, it's almost offensive how many of them she out-acts. [10]
  7. Also noteworthy is Evanna Lynch. [11]
  8. Lynch is a Potter-loving non-actor who auditioned for the role because she felt she was born to play it, and every time her
  9. dreamy face floats into view, you realize she's right. [12]
  10. Evanna Lynch, wonderfully embod[ies] the most interesting of the new characters. [13]
  11. [Harry] makes a loopy new friend in Luna Lovegood (an impressive Evanna Lynch). [14]
  12. First-time actress (and longtime Harry Potter fan) Evanna Lynch is very impressive in this role, reminiscent of a young Christina Ricci who so perfectly played the character Wednesday Aadams in the Aadams Family movies. [15]
  13. [Harry's] ... fey new friend Luna (the wonderful Evanna Lynch) ... offer[s] some succor. [16]
  14. In addition to Staunton, newcomers to this episode include some rare comedic relief in ... the spacy otherworldliness of new student Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch, note perfect). [17]
  15. New characters like Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) make a charming addition to the ever-growing cast. [18]
  16. Ethereal yet oh-so-centered Luna Lovegood (welcome newcomer Evanna Lynch) makes friends with intriguing beasts that "can only be seen by people who have seen death." [19]
  17. Staunton and Evanna Lynch essentially steal the film as new characters Dolores Umbridge and Luna Lovegood. [20]
  18. Also good [is] ... newcomer Evanna Lynch as the slightly off-kilter Luna Lovegood. [21]
  19. Evanna Lynch is defiantly ditzy as slightly loony loner girl Luna Lovegood. [22]
  20. Also making an impact is Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood, a student who might be described as spaced out, but who becomes a trusty associate of Harry. [23]
  21. Order of the Phoenix is a famously thick book, so plenty of side plots abound, including ... the scatterbrained newcomer Luna Lovegood (a solid Evanna Lynch). [24]
  22. The comedy bits all fall flat, with the exception of the strange Luna Lovegood, a new character who most people think is mad. Yates understands this character, as does the charming newbie actress Evanna Lynch; Luna's story goes from one of askew humor to being very touching. Her loyalty to Harry and the gang is actually quite lovely. [25]
  23. Luna Lovegood [is] played, with eerie sure-footedness, by Evanna Lynch. [26]
  24. As always, the performances are top-notch, from the series veterans ... to ethereal newcomer Evanna Lynch, who plays witchy little Luna Lovegood. [27]
  25. What's not on the shelf is newcomer Evanna Lynch's wonderfully vague, wafting performance as Harry's schoolmate Luna Lovegood. [28]
  26. The returning cast, now so familiar to us, continues to shine, as do newcomers Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch as the dreamy Luna Lovegood, and there's a level of history to them. [29]
  27. Harry's slow-burning romance with fellow student Cho Chang (Katie Leung) is drastically abbreviated, while faces both familiar (all the Hogwarts teachers) and new (such as Evanna Lynch's enigmatic Luna Lovegood) compete for camera time and our attentions. [30]
  28. Much more interesting is a spooky new girl named Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch ), who sees things that may or may not be there: She's like Dakota Fanning after a few conks on the head, and I hope we get more of her. [31]
  29. Two excellent exceptions to that [the tradition of fine actors in the supporting roles] are Imelda Staunton's despicable Dolores Umbridge and ethereal Luna ‘Loony' Lovegood (Evanna Lynch). [32]
  30. newcomer Evanna Lynch is a deliciously quirky find as sweetly oddball classmate Luna Lovegood. [33]
  31. the dreamy-eyed and even more dreamy-voiced Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Harry's classmate who is not quite even of the magical world. [34]
  32. This is made clear to him [Harry] by Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch, in a memorable debut). [35]
  33. The ensemble work is flawless, including all the familiars in the grand family of characters, even lesser fry like zoned Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch). [36]
  34. The other new figure of note is new girl Luna Lovegood, played by Evanna Lynch, who brings an appropriately ethereal air to the role even if her thin, pinched voice forces one to strain to understand some of her lines. [37]
  35. Sixteen-year-old Evanna Lynch delivers one of the film's most enjoyable performances in the role of "loony" Luna Lovegood. It's also her movie debut. Not a bad way to start your acting career. [38]
  36. Two new members of the cast are particularly welcome: Staunton as the horridly cheerful, scarily funny Umbridge and newcomer Evanna Lynch, who plays the blonde, ethereal Luna Lovegood, a new ally of Harry's, with just the right off-kilter spaciness. [39]
  37. Evanna Lynch who makes her acting debut in the role of Luna Lovegood also gives her character the right amount of required looniness and offbeat wisdom to be mentioned here. [40]
  38. But the best new addition is Evanna Lynch, seemingly born to play Luna Lovegood with her one sandwich short of a picnic manner and breathy Irish brogue. [41]
Mixed
  1. The other new figure of note is new girl Luna Lovegood, played by Evanna Lynch, who brings an appropriately ethereal air to the role even if her thin, pinched voice forces one to strain to understand some of her lines. [42]
  2. And there is an enchanted turn by a young actress new to movies, Evanna Lynch, as the queerly private Luna Lovegood: This flake flutes her lines, but not always on key. (You like her but wouldn’t want to be stuck with her in a train compartment.) [43]
Negative
  1. Evanna Lynch is somewhat rough around the edges playing an almost ethereal girl. [44]
  2. The new addition, Evanna Lynch, doesn't raise the bar very far. [45]
Discussion

As I understand it, the vast majority of reviews regarding Lynch's performance are positive. As, only two reviews can practically be mentioned/quoted in the article; I understand that the most suitable tone for the paragraph is to have two positive reviews. I also understand that to include one positive review and one mixed/negative review, would give the mixed/negative reviews an undue weighting, and thus violate neutral point of view, by representing views disproportionately. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 15:31, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Half-Blood Prince

Positive
  1. While the plot cranks its way across the screen, one grabs furtive curlicues of pleasure: [...] Evanna Lynch’s moonstruck readings. [46]
  2. [Harry Potter]’s got the comedic thing down this time around thanks to some sidekicks like Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) and one memorable moment of luck. [47]
  3. Multiple supporting cast members add kick, from the budding Bonnie Wright as Ginny to Evanna Lynch as the quirky Luna Lovegood. [48]
  4. There's also the usual assortment of classmates, including one of my personal favorites, the flaxen-haired space case Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), who drifts through the movie like a pale Victorian ghostie. (She has a fine moment in which she appears, as if out of nowhere, in a lion headdress, ready to cheer the Gryffindor House quidditch team to victory.) [49]
  5. There’s also the hint of druggy subculture whenever the divinely droll Evanna Lynch appears as Luna Lovegood. She combats the movie’s occasional sluggishness with a hilarious sluggishness of her own. She’s part Anna Faris, part hippie, part pusher. And whatever she can do to bring out the psychedelia in the last two movies would be greatly appreciated. [50]
  6. There's an expanded role this time for Harry's moon-child classmate Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch, who has the dingbat charm of the young Carol Kane). [51]
  7. By the time the gloriously spacey Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) pops into a shot wearing some sort of giant lion hat on her head, we're so starved for light-hearted whimsy that we want to hug her (and not let her go). [52]
  8. The hilarious Evanna Lynch steals a handful of scenes as Luna Lovegood. [53]
  9. As the lovestruck simpleton, Grint is a joy, as is scene-stealer Evanna Lynch as spacey Luna Lovegood. [54]
  10. Evanna Lynch, as eccentric student Luna Lovegood, wafts on and off screen like a strange perfume, both vivid and charmingly vague. [55]
  11. I found myself wishing for more of the washed-out blonde Evanna Lynch and her glassy singsong as the space case Luna Lovegood, the last female reminder that Harry Potter began as a universe of misfits. [56]
Mixed

I found none.

Negative

Discussion

All of the reviews, that I looked at, regarding Lynch's performance are positive. Therefore, all reviews mentioned/quoted in the article must be positive reviews. It even seems a little bit "suspicious" to myself that, out of the 250+ reviews I searched through, I could find no mixed or negative reviews at all; if you can find any, please let me know or post it. Deathly Hallows Pt. 1

Positive
  1. But despite the lack of some of fans' favorite characters and book details, there are fabulous supporting performances by Bill Nighy as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimegour; Rhys Ifans as Quibbler editor Xenophilous Lovegood; Toby Jones as selfless, noble Dobby; and Evanna Lynch, who's always been pitch-perfect as delightfully loopy Luna Lovegood. [57]
  2. Luna Lovegood (played, once again, by the fabulously wraithlike Evanna Lynch). [58]
  3. all the supporting talent (Robbie Coltrane, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton, Jason Isaacs, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch) give us Potter-people what we want. [59]
  4. Evanna Lynch’s Luna is still delightfully lunar. [60]
  5. And Evanna Lynch's ever-wafting Luna Lovegood, as usual, steals the movie with a line; in this case, "That's a curious thing to keep in your sock." [61]
  6. Evanna Lynch is as dippy and sweet as always as the quirky yet sensible Luna Lovegood. [62]
  7. Among the newcomers maintaining the films' high acting standards are [...] Rhys Ifans as the kooky, not entirely trustworthy father of Luna Lovegood (the lovely Evanna Lynch). [63]
  8. That extends even to the movies’ hippier-dippier characters, in this case Rhys Ifans’ Xenophilius Lovegood, father of Luna Lovegood (played, once again, by the fabulously wraithlike Evanna Lynch). - http://www.movieline.com/2010/11/review-harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-1.php?page=all
Mixed

I found none, again.

Negative

I found none, again.

Others
  • First of all, the delightful Evanna Lynch is brutally underutilised as the loopy Luna Lovegood. [64]
  • There are light moments here and there: [...] anything involving Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch). [65]
  • there’s little room in the tale for darling Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Harry’s endearing classmate who brightened up the last few pictures with her daft charm. [66]
  • Witness the return of Luna Lovegood, an actress who has studied much since her last Harry Potter role, “and not a second of studying acting, obviously” she pointed out with so little energy I would have assumed she was asleep if I wasn’t asleep myself. “With a name like ‘Lovegood’ I’m the luckiest woman with a profile on Match.com,” said Luna. Some more "notes to myself"

  • She presumably did poorly in her leaving cert and is 're-doing' it. 1 2
  • She has also recently talked about pursuing acting (even in the US); or going to art college. /wait if/until this eventuates into something.
  • Lynch wrote Harry Potter fan fiction. /find a source. Add to Early life. Change "and became a prominent fan, sending letters to the author, J. K. Rowling." to "and became a prominent fan, writing fan fiction and sending letters to the author, J. K. Rowling."

A very nice article . . .

I know I'm supposed to be talking about ways to improve the article, but, frankly, I find it refreshing to have such a solid bit of work amid the sometimes-too-in-groupish stuff about the Harry Potter series. Yours, GeorgeLouis (talk) 07:24, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much GeorgeLouis, I've spent quite a bit of time working on this article. After Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 is released, I'm going to make Evanna Lynch FA. Then, I'll make alot of other Harry Potter biographies FA too; then hopefully it'll all be less "sometimes-too-in-groupish". :P Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 13:29, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Evanna Lynch Middle Name

There seems to be a on-going edit about Evanna Lynch middle name, Evanna Lynch middle name is PATRICIA. Evanna has confirmed her middle name is PATRICIA on her official facebook profile, Evanna has post her facebook website link on her official, verified twitter account. Here is official sources for everyone to look at, at the official information: Evanna Lynch official Facebook account: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Evanna-Lynch/238235589546563?sk=info Evanna Lynch official and verifeld Twitter account: https://twitter.com/#!/evy_lynch I know I am new user on wikipedia and I am still learning how wikipedia works but this information on Evanna Lynch middle name is the truth and a fact. Thank you. Hogwartsfanzone, 12 April 2012, 09:10am (UTC)

It's a shame

that the only reportage from Rowling's 2008 James Joyce Awards speech is from this fan site. Some of what Rowling says there is gold dust; particularly about how Evanna Lynch influenced her conception of Luna in the final novels. Is there some way we could include this information? Display image

I think I have an image of her that's nicer than the one currently shown - taken by my own camera and so not subject to licensing issues. The only problem is that she's partially obscured, and I'm not sure if it therefore passes point 1 in these guidelines.

This is the image I think is nicer: http://hphotos-snc6.fbcdn.net/265844_10150234696141773_597486772_7588849_8148832_o.jpg

Could anyone more learned than me tell me if it's acceptable (if cropped)?

Monkey Chief (talk) 12:10, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

I think it's a gorgeous photo, and should be used here somewhere. As it stands, I think the photo in the infobox is extremely good. It is clear and unobscured and high-resolution, and it has a CC license. The other photo in the article is horrible, dreary and low-res. I think if you replaced that image with yours, nobody would miss it. Elizium23 (talk) 03:54, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
I changed the image to this, which I cropped from this. Let me know what you think! Monkey Chief (talk) 12:28, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
I've cropped it a little bit more to focus on Evanna and not the space above her head, to the right of her, as well as removing that large white card/paper than largely obscured her hand. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 04:21, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Evanna Lynch work as a Model.

Should we menition Evanna Lynch work as a model in her article, she has been seen in photoshoots for various magaines, plus she has previously modelled for Katrin Thomas and Ciaran Sweeney.

Recent things

Deathly Hallows - Part 2 reviews

I've searched through the 255 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for "Luna" and copied the paragraphs. I will later add two of these quotes to the article.

"Along with Rickman, numerous other beloved players make final cameos, making this peculiar film -- which is simultaneously too short and too long -- feel an awful lot like an extended curtain call. Maggie Smith as Prof. McGonagall and Jim Broadbent as Prof. Slughorn, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, Tom Felton as the chastened Draco Malfoy, Bonham Carter as the adorably evil Bellatrix Lestrange, David Thewlis as lycanthrope Remus Lupin and Evanna Lynch as New Agey Celtic seer Luna Lovegood all get a few seconds of screen time." - http://www.salon.com/entertainment/movies/andrew_ohehir/2011/07/13/deathly_hallows_part_2/index.html

"There’s a good chance the audience you see the film with will be openly applauding as he [Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis)] runs across an exploding bridge and gets the courage to talk with Luna." - http://thescorecardreview.com/review/film-reviews/2011/07/15/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2/22389

"And there’s the vacuous Luna who has learned next to nothing about acting since the less than nothing she knew in the last Potter film. Someone please explain Luna to me, and why she seems to be treating her Glaucoma with well more than the legal limit of medicinal marijuana." - http://moviejuice.com/2011/07/18/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2/

"The surrounding young cast including Matthew Lewis (Neville), Evanna Lynch (Luna) and Tom Felton (Draco) have displayed similar improvements across the eight films to date and while they were underutilized, especially Lewis, in this final film, they were certainly not unimportant." - http://www.cinemasight.com/2011/07/18/review-harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2-2011/

"We all have our favorite Potter lead (I always liked Hermione's spunk and smarts), favorite Potter ally (Robbie Coltrane's Hagrid, a perpetual delight), favorite Potter foil (Alan Rickman's wickedly played Severus Snape), favorite Potter student (Evanna Lynch's out-there Luna Lovegood), and so on." - http://clclt.com/theclog/archives/2011/07/15/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2-off-to-see-the-wizard

"Luna proves helpful." - http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review/harrypotterandthedeathlyhallowspart2

"That he does all of this without ever losing the film's sense of adventure is a remarkable feat, aided by the fact that the central characters - and key bit part players such as Neville Longbottom (Matthew David Lewis) and Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch) - are people we have grown to love down the years and who we'll root for, no matter what." - http://www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/reviews.php?id=9902

"The next object is a diadem (tiara) belonging to another female Hogwarts founder. This brings Harry, Ron and Hermione back to a much different Hogwarts. They are guided by Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) through a secret passage onto the campus and greeted enthusiastically by a group of students that includes Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) and Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch). " - http://www.entertainmentspectrum.com/index/movies/1188/harrypotterandthedeathlyhallowspart2.html

"At its best, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is a wrap up, and a chance for fans to revisit everything you loved about the Harry Potter universe as we go through Hogwarts, Gringotts Bank and more, as well as getting to see the outcomes of your favorite characters, big and small (Neville fans, Luna fans, Weasley fans and more all get to see the big moments their favorite characters live through). Parents and young wizards stand side by side in a coming of age battle that shapes all of them for the rest of their lives." - http://weblogs.thecwdc.com/entertainment/movies/willie-waffle/2011/07/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-h-2.html

"But Harry has a last-ditch plan: to start searching for whatever Horcruxes—the magical artifacts that contain pieces of Voldemort’s soul—are still extant. Armed with the all-powerful Sword of Gryffindor, he can now destroy them—and with them, Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) himself. The younger wizard has some loyal support: stalwart Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis, who gets a scene of rousing declamation), spacey Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), the wolfish Remus Lupin (David Thewlis), and the steadfast Weasley clan. However, given the series’ body count to date (we’ve already bid sad farewells to Dumbledore, Mad-Eye Moody, and the lovable/annoying House Elf Dobby), you might fear that several of these characters won’t be emerging alive at the end of the tale. Is it wrong to say you’d be right?" - http://reason.com/archives/2011/07/14/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-h

"Director David Yates continues the strong work he’s done over the previous three outings, and while this film is pretty much wall-to-wall action, he keeps the characters and their motives firmly in mind. The cast aids immeasurably in that regard; Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint know their roles like the back of their hands at this point, and if the last two don’t get quite as much screen time here, it’s only because they need to make room for the rest of the cast to make their curtain calls. Here, too, Deathly Hallows, Part 2 earns its stripes, integrating the likes of Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) and Professor McGonagall (Maggie Smith) without making them feel crammed in. Rickman, in particular, does exceptionally well with his curtain call, as the question of Snape’s ultimate allegiance finally comes to fruition. Unfortunately, it leads to a number of head-scratchers from a continuity standpoint (I’m still not sure how Evanna Lynch’s Luna gets from the seashore to Hogwarts), creating some of the few legitimate problems facing the film." - http://www.mania.com/mania-review-harry-potter-deathly-hallows-part-2_article_130481.html

"So we see Hogwarts smashed to rubble. We see characters die, and we see them mourned. And we see Harry himself come to terms with his mortality. Most surprisingly of all perhaps, we see Neville (Lewis), who seems to be morphing into Clive Owen, rallying the troops and declaring his love for Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch). Most of the iconic moments from the novel are included, and, pleasingly, the Hogwarts setting means that many of the adult actors get a share of screentime that was missing from part one. Even Professor Trelawney (Thompson) shows up, while Maggie Smith clearly relishes the opportunity to show Professor McGonagall's naughty side." - http://www.futuremovies.co.uk/review.asp?ID=1251

"Along with Rickman, numerous other beloved players make final cameos, making this peculiar film -- which is simultaneously too short and too long -- feel an awful lot like an extended curtain call. Maggie Smith as Prof. McGonagall and Jim Broadbent as Prof. Slughorn, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, Tom Felton as the chastened Draco Malfoy, Bonham Carter as the adorably evil Bellatrix Lestrange, David Thewlis as lycanthrope Remus Lupin and Evanna Lynch as New Agey Celtic seer Luna Lovegood all get a few seconds of screen time. So do various departed characters, including Harry's long-dead parents, Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and of course Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore, who appears in a misty-moisty afterlife scene where Yates simultaneously manages to screw up a crucial plot point and render the spiritual underpinnings of the entire Potter franchise as total bollocks. (We also meet Dumbledore's grouchy brother, nicely played by Ciarán Hinds, a personal favorite.) And I guess Harry's so-called paramour Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) makes an appearance, but not so you'd notice it. (Potter fans hate me for this one, but the submerged sexual tension between Harry, Hermione and Ron is a central element of this universe, and one Rowling herself seems barely aware of. Ginny is a transparent and inadequate attempt to defuse it.)" - http://www.salon.com/entertainment/movies/andrew_ohehir/2011/07/13/deathly_hallows_part_2/index.html

"And oh, the kids — young adults now, but still carrying traces of the children they were when we first met. Bonnie Wright, alas, remains uncomfortable on screen (and her role, as Harry's love interest Ginny, remains underwritten), but the rest are splendid. Matthew Lewis' Neville gets some nicely heroic screen time, and Evanna Lynch continues to be all-that-and-a-radish-earring as the ever-wafting Luna Lovegood. And how nice that the film's penultimate moment is a quiet one, as Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) stand alone together outside Hogwarts, finally exhaling; you wish they could take a well-deserved bow." - http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/movies/2015597552_mr15potter.html?syndication=rss

"Of course, with any succession of films as extensive as this coming to a close, there are bound to be a few minor debits. Tom Felton is very good as Draco Malfoy's cowardly but not genuinely malevolent colors come through, yet the finished product lacks that last flourish between himself and Harry that would have more effectively and satisfyingly tied up their conflicted longtime relationship. A last little one-on-one exchange between Harry and Ron would also have been appreciated, if not necessary, while the defeat over certain bad guys feels a bit too quick and basic. With so much going on simultaneously, it is easy to lose track of characters, and that is what happens here just a couple times, especially in regards to the quirky Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), who goes missing from a sizable chunk of the second half only to reappear at the end. As huge in scope as the rest of the all-out war is the final match-off pitting Harry against Voldemort is a little on the rudimentary side by comparison. Fortunately, Ralph Fiennes (2010's "Clash of the Titans") has grown into an iconic heavy, a meanly reptilian symbol of cruelty and decay impossible to forget, and what follows their tussle goes above and beyond the most hopeful of prospects. The aftermath between friends Harry, Ron and Hermione set on the rubble-strewn bridge at Hogwarts is quietly, touchingly perfect, and the epilogue, getting just right what could have gone wrong as the characters move ahead nineteen years into the future, makes for a poetic capper speaking eloquently and gently about the passage of time and the natural process of life." - http://dustinputman.com/reviews/h/11_hp7p2.htm

"It gives brief sequences to two fresh characters, Dumbledore’s cynical brother (Ciarán Hinds) and the ghost of Helena Ravenclaw (Kelly Macdonald), and supplies cameos for a dozen old pals, from Professor McGonagall to Hagrid to Luna Lovegood." - http://events.charlotteobserver.com/reviews/show/13998265-review-harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2

"Here, the shy, nerdy, socially inept Neville Longbottom — played by Matthew Lewis — steps to the fore with an eloquent, elegiac speech that hints at the gracefulness that lurks beneath the gawky surface of adolescence. He’s only just now becoming the person he was meant to be, an element of the open-hearted, democratic nature of Rowling’s work: People shouldn’t be written off until we’ve gotten to know them fully, and even then, they can surprise us. Lewis was at first one of the more awkward of the young supporting players in the Harry Potter movies, though he’s also always been one of the most charming. Now, he plays this older, more self-assured Neville with billygoat sure-footedness. And as another of the recurring characters, the wraithlike, spacy-smart Luna Lovegood (played by the wispy-wonderful Evanna Lynch) notices, he’s also grown conspicuously attractive, in the way bright, kind-hearted guys so often are." - http://www.movieline.com/2011/07/review-harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2-guides-the-franchise-to-a-graceful-moving-end.php

"Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) appears in a cameo in a grayish, light-flooded CGI Charing Cross Station. Also taking bows are pixie-dusted Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), Remus Lupin (David Thewlis), Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) and others. John Williams’ original theme makes a curtain call. As professor Minerva McGonagall, the great Maggie Smith demonstrates the fine art of transforming a facial expression into a brand." - http://bostonherald.com/entertainment/movies/reviews/view/2011_0713big_harry_deal/

"Characters like Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Ollivander (John Hurt), Griphook (Warwick Davis), Molly Weasley (Julie Walter) and especially Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) all show up here to maximum effect, given their big moments, contributing in vital ways." - http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/motion-captured/posts/review-final-harry-potter-film-wraps-up-series-with-elegant-epic-battle-to-the-death

"Those who find Watson aloof will love the bit in which Hermione transforms herself into Bellatrix and Bonham Carter does a wicked impression of Watson’s elongated lockjaw. Otherwise, Bonham Carter is an expensive bit player—along with Jim Broadbent, David Thewlis, and on and on. Maggie Smith, though, has a moment when she faces down Fiennes and savors her character’s imperious brogue, and Ciarán Hinds (Dumbledore’s brother) and Kelly Macdonald (dark wraith) get a couple of atmospheric scenes. Alan Rickman conveys the hauntedness of Severus Snape by inserting even longer pauses between syllables—a feat worthy of a knighthood. The one I’ll miss most is Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood, with her queerly fluted monotone. Here’s your spinoff character, J.K.!" - http://nymag.com/movies/reviews/harry-potter-deathly-hallows-edelstein-review-2011/

"We get passionate, but somehow touchingly innocent screen kisses between Harry and Ginny (Bonnie Wright) and, of course, between Ron and Hermione. In the midst of the battle, Neville declares that he is going to find Luna (Evanna Lynch) for a snog: "I'm mad about her! About time I told her, since we're both probably going to be dead by dawn!" But these love stories are always subordinate to the all-important battle between good and evil." - http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/jul/07/harry-potter-deathly-hallows-part-2-review

anorexia age 11 - 13

The article says For two years from the age of 11, Lynch suffered from anorexia. During this time, Rowling sent her letters of encouragement; Lynch has described her as being "like a counsellor".[9] 11 - 13 means 2002 - 2004. But the casting was in 2006 - how could Rowling send her encouraging letters then, at this early time ? --Neun-x (talk) 08:38, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

It is explained in the same article. Lynch wrote to Rowling first, asking for help. Elizium23 (talk) 16:18, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I heard that there was some sort of promise going on. Rowling allegedly said that, if she overcomes here anorexia, she would become the actor of Luna Lovegood, which, eventually, she did become. 178.202.219.69 (talk) 20:27, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
So the section on her anorexia has been removed, with the editor claiming he cannot "find a proper citation" and that the Sun article "does not count". In spite of the fact that the Sun appears to have interviewed her directly. I don't understand why the Sun would not count as a reliable secondary source, but these facts are consistently restated all over the web. Here is an article in contactmusic.com with more reputed direct interview quotes. Here is a blog post written by Lynch herself about the importance of positive body image - if the Sun article had been false, surely she could have used the platform to denounce their horrible libel? I can understand why articles in the Sun should be taken with a grain of salt, but since she appears to have granted a direct interview in this case and honestly spoken about her condition, and furthermore that it is remarkable she made contact with Rowling at this stage and it had a direct, tangible impact on her career, it needs to stay in the article by all means. Infobox image

Does anyone object to swapping the infobox image with the more recent 2011 photo in the body of the article? Or even better, with this 2012 photo at Commons: File:Evanna Lynch 2012.jpg. It does appear that she has gained some weight, and a recent photo is needed to accurately represent her current appearance. Elizium23 (talk) 16:04, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

No objection. I think it should be the 2012 image. Dismas|(talk) 16:38, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Movies on TV

From my research regardless if the movie was on TV or big screen it still goes in the movie section. The TV section is usually reserved for series. Reb1981 (talk) 03:33, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Catholic upbringing, but 'no longer practices'

Is this still accurate? The biography site Spokeo.com still lists her religion as Roman Catholic. Also, the article sourced for this page says that she has admitted to reading spiritual texts, which implies she is still religious. ~~Iheartthestrals (talk - contribs) 23:50 4 December 2015 (UTC)
