How many times has Messi been in first place, or won? I find his name on the winner list once, but on the "wins by player" list it says he was first place twice.  ??? Rhodesisland (talk) 02:08, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

One time. Some of his fanboys keep editing it to tw owins. -Koppapa (talk) 07:33, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Someone vandalized[edit]

Someone placed Steven Gerrard in the #1 of 2008.. this list is never going to stop being vandalized until someone lock it —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 16:26, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Fixed some more vandalization[edit]

Somebody vandalized the 2006 FIFA Player of the Year column and put Ronaldinho as #1, in which Cannavaro is #1. This page seems to be highly vandalized ever since Cannavaro has won the 2006 award. I might even recommend a semi-lock.

List of winners[edit]

The formatting of the list of winners is not very good, it would be better to make 3 columns so all winners are in one column. Now it's difficult to distinguish between winners and almost-winners. Piet 21:44, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

"Details" in women's section[edit]

The "details" in the women's section points to the details of the men's voting, which is pointless. Either the details should be provided, or the link should be removed.

List vandalised[edit]

This page has been vandalized, as far as I know there is no player named cheeseburger who finished 3rd in the FIFA World Player of the Year awards. Editing of this page should be temporarily stopped after the appropriate corrections are made.

Word soccer player and FIFA world player mix up!!![edit]

Do not be confused with the FIFA and World soccer player of the year. The world soccer player of this year is Cannavarro. The FIFA world player of this year is TBA —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 50cent4 (talkcontribs) 12:49, 17 December 2006 (UTC).

Why is the position mentioned? It isn't even accurate. This has been corrupted by British culture... calling any attacker that isn't a striker a "midfielder", even if they played as a forward. Peoplesunionpro 19:09, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Ronaldo 2002 win[edit]

Can someone add inter milan to club, he was there in 2002 before he went to Real Madrid.

Christiano Ronaldo not a striker[edit]

in the List of Winners, for 2007, Christiano Ronaldo (3rd place) is listed as a striker. Can someone change it to midfielder, as he plays on the left wing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 06:58, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

He is the best football gamer of the world!!!!!!!11 —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 09:00, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Check this page - 2004 Winner Shevchenko'Or —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

christiano ronaldo is a player that can in any country and he plays like zidane and he his first player that awarded world best player in :ENGLAND: so that is why i said no one is better than him ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞ ∞

Lock this article to stop it getting changed to improper information.[edit]

There were a number of modifications happening today .. rectified the ones i found to be incorrect i.e : 2006 Cannavaro was shown in AC Milan , changed it to Juventus + Real Madrid
Also Kaka's count was shown as 3 in 1st place , rectified it to 1

And Some More Vandalism[edit]

In th most win by Player's section, the firts through fourth place were changed to more random names. And for the 2009 winners, cristiano ronaldo's second place title was given to "alyrasmi". But it has now been changed back by me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:11, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

FIFA Ballon d'Or Combined[edit]

Should 2010 be included here or only at FIFA Ballon d'Or from now on? -Koppapa (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, the Ballon d'Or page lists the FIFA Ballon d'Or so I don't see why not. It makes for easier access to the information without needing to go to another page. 01:25, 7 January 2012 (EST).

100% Agreed. This page should be listed with the the FIFA Ballon d'Or for winners. The overall statistics on that page and this page is very misleading as they should be combined. They haven't separated out European Cup / Champion's League winners, just because it got rebranded 1992/1993. Similarly this shouldn't be separated. Can someone please add!

Female winners[edit]

FIFA Ballon d'Or is the recieve only male players. Women continue to receive the FIFA World Player of the Year as FIFA Women's World Player of the Year.

You can see it here: /

Player of the year[edit]

player of the year is a separate article and should not have awards after 2009. another article has its continuation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 00:51, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

List "Won by players": Ronaldo and Messi wrong[edit]

There is something wrong with Ronaldo and Messi in the list "Wins by player": Messi won second place twice (2007, 2008, and no third place), whereas Ronaldo has won one second place (2009) and one third place (2007) — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:43, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

For god's sake[edit]

apparently armin hayn won fifa world player of the year/ballon d'Or in 1991. exactly I know what you're thinking who the hell is it. no one. jean-pierre papin actually won it in 1991 please sort it out and lock the page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lampard 24 (talkcontribs) 21:22, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Consistent Table Formats[edit]

The womens and mens winners tables are quite different. I believe to make it easier for the reader it should be consistent. I would recommend the format used in the Men's table, but either way as long as both tables are the same. --TinTin (talk) 00:47, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 13 October 2014[edit]

please change/update the wins by player lish as leonial messi has come first 4 times. (talk) 18:52, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Not done - Messi only won the FIFA World Player of the Year once - he has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or three times since then, but this article is about the FIFA World Player of the Year. - Arjayay (talk) 07:16, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
