The result of the move request was: page moved. BilCat (talk) 06:01, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
First Tennessee Park → First Horizon Park – The corporate naming rights partner has renamed itself and the ballpark (see [1], [2], and [3]). A different ballpark/article previously known as First Horizon Park is holding up the move. NatureBoyMD (talk) 01:34, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). 94.21.10.204 (talk) 05:03, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Contested. Since the official website is still at www.firsttennesseepark.com, has a large pic on the landing page showing the building as "First Tennessee Park", and says on a top banner it is "becoming First Horizon Park" in 2020. WP:TOOSOON. 94.21.10.204 (talk) 04:11, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- See [4], where the team that occupies the stadium has changed all instances of the ballpark to the new moniker. NatureBoyMD (talk) 04:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- The official name and the WP:COMMONNAME might be different things. Quite often we don't move articles immediately an entity changes its name. This may or may not be the case here, but I think it's worth a full discussion. 94.21.10.204 (talk) 04:57, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- See [4], where the team that occupies the stadium has changed all instances of the ballpark to the new moniker. NatureBoyMD (talk) 04:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment. The sponsor/owner was moved on 26 October 2019, from First Tennessee to First Horizon, thence to First Horizon Bank, both by User:BilCat who also updated the article text. This user's page states that the user has retired. 94.21.10.204 (talk) 05:15, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support Move - Generally, US/Canadian stadium/arena articles are moved as soon as the name is official. Only in very rare cases is this not done. The documentation on the team's stadium page has been updated, so I see no reason to not move the article once a consensus is reached here. - BilCat (talk) 05:43, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comments - Even though I'm "retired", I still check my (extremely short) watchlist at least once a day. I have Page Mover rights, so I can move the page once we have a consensus. - BilCat (talk) 16:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page discussions. GiantSnowman 20:04, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment - it is not standard for soccer stadiums to use sponsored names. If it is for baseball (and that is primary sport) then move away. GiantSnowman 20:08, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NAMECHANGES. In addition to the notes that MiLB has changed everything over on their end, the Twitter name (but not account handle) for the ballpark has changed, and there is at least one news article using the new moniker. I suspect that website references etc. will change out over the next couple of months (according to the Sounds, the signage will be changed out this month after a holiday event concludes) leading into the start of the minor league baseball season.
- To address GiantSnowman, baseball is the primary sport for which the facility was built. Also, in the United States quite a few soccer-specific stadiums (not counting venues also used for American football, or minor league baseball/USL combos like this was) have sold their naming rights: Banc of California Stadium, Rio Tinto Stadium, etc. Most of the members of Category:Major League Soccer stadiums that don't have naming rights sold are proposed or speculative venues. Of the 26 teams in MLS, 18 play in soccer-specific venues, and just one of those has no sponsored name (Lockhart Stadium (2020)). Raymie (t • c) 04:20, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comments - The IP's objections have been addressed, so I'm moving the article now per WP:NAMECHANGES. - BilCat (talk) 05:55, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
