One of three former Confederates...

[edit]

The line states, Lee was one of three former Confederate generals to be made major generals in the U.S. Army. I do not doubt this but I was wondering who the third officer is after Fitz. Lee and Joseph Wheeler? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.215.133.186 (talk) 21:02, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the air means what?

[edit]

The article currently contains the words Lee's reconnaissance found that the Union Army's right flank was "in the air". What does that mean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.229.214.66 (talk) 01:16, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Exposed and vulnerable to attack, possibly surprise attack because of its dispositions and surrounding terrain. Donner60 (talk) 02:45, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What about that shad dinner?

[edit]

Someone has somehow neglected to mention that little incident where our porcine hero lost Petersburg and hence the war because he and Pickett disappeared to gorge on shad while the battle of Five Forks was getting underway. This good ol' boy looks considerably better-fed then your typical Confeddy enlisted man, who would have been lucky to find a cricket to swallow in the week to come. Overall, one expensive fish entree, I would say.68.178.50.46 (talk) 02:31, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any reliable sources that you can cite to this effect?
