Notability self-made?
[edit]Would this article exist but for an-initially red-link to this page in The July 8, 2015 Wikipedia Signpost ("In Brief: The red link blues") and a Wikipedia-baiting comment in this July 8, 2015 article in the Canadian Press (quote: "CP: You don't have a Wikipedia entry yet. / Yates: When the time is right, the Wikipedia will come. I will summon the Wikipeople.")?
Oh, and if you are wondering, yes, I did put this page on my watchlist after it was mentioned in a draft version of the Signpost and before the page was created, expecting that the page would be created with or without strong evidence of this person's notability. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:33, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Davidwr: I started this article after seeing its mention in the Signpost, but I wouldn't have done so if I thought he didn't meet notability criteria. I was not 'summoned' by Yates and don't particularly enjoy his music, but think he meets WP:NMUSIC and/or WP:BIO regardless. I'll sometimes rise to the "bait" of 'so and so doesn't even have a Wikipedia article' because anyone who deserves an entry but doesn't have one will eventually have that said of them. So, in answer to your question, no, this article very well might not exist now without the Signpost and Canadian Press, but I would guess that it would have been created eventually. gobonobo + c 18:03, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
