Death date

[edit]

According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Frank Manders, of 911 Balloon Squadron RAF, who is buried in a cemetery at Maidenhead, Berks, died on 18 March 1942. His entry linked thus: https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2436479/frank-manders/

It does not mention his footballing. His age is given as 30, indicating a birth year of 1911 or 1912. I realise, having read the newspaper report his death is cited to, that he was last seen alive on the 17th and his body discovered the next day. As he apparently lived in Maidenhead I wonder if his death/funeral were mentioned in local newspaper reports for that district that might mention more about his footballing? This might help connect him conclusively with the man commemorated by the CWGC.Cloptonson (talk) 17:59, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
