Citations
[edit]I'm concerned that there are very few citations for this page. Sources 2, 3, and 4 aren't even used... Harryhoy7 (talk) 03:03, 8 February 2017 (UTC)harryhoy7
Foucault and Bopp
[edit]In his book The Order of Things, Foucault reserves a special place to Bopp, as one of the culprits of the modern rupture with the Classical epistémê, dedicating an entire section to an analysis of Bopp's work. Perhaps this would warrant some mention in the article?Daniel Nagase 23:39, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
needs improvement
[edit]I've tried to improve some of the phrasing (it still needs work though), and added a biography and career subhead. I would suggest a bibliography subsection (with a list of his books/papers), and perhaps links to pages on his specific books...Zigzig20s 22:43, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hamilton?
[edit]I'm removing the wiki link to Alexander Hamilton. The dates, the time in India, the residence in Paris--nothing matches up with the American founding father. Does anyone know who this Alexander Hamilton is?Herbivore (talk) 03:34, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Information on Russell Martineau, another English scholar, would be useful as well. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 16:56, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Comparative Grammar link query
[edit]I have tried to add a link to Comparative Grammar at the Internet Archive, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. The link text is: https://archive.org/details/comparativegramm01boppuoft--Tcgriffin (talk) 19:05, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Sources for future article expansion
[edit]Presumably from the EB11 article, which was actually largely cribbed from the EB9 one,
- Michel Jules Alfred Bréal's translation of Bopp's Vergleichende Grammatik (1866) introduction
- Theodor Benfey, Geschichte der Sprachwissenschaft (1869)
- A. Kuhn in Unsere Zeit, Neue Folge, iv. I (1868)
- Salomon Lefmann, Franz Bopp (Berlin, 1891–1897)
were given as "references" without any citations being made directly to them. Kindly restore them as they are used to verify statements in the article or place them in a #Further reading section with a terse gloss as to their importance for those seeking a better understanding of Bopp. — LlywelynII 05:15, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
