I changed 2 January 1946 to 10 December 1945 based on two sources: A scholarly work on Landsberg prison (Raithel, Thomas, Die Strafanstalt Landsberg am Lech und der Spöttinger Friedhof (1944-1958), Munich 2009, p. 150), and The Northern Whig, issue 11 December 1945, page 1, column H, which reported the execution as having taken place "yesterday".Kauko56 (talk) 10:32, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This photo does not show the execution of Franz (Xaver) Strasser but a later one, presumably in early 1946. The existing photos which show Strasser leaving the prison building for the gallows, and of him standing on the gallows, show the guards wearing parkas, NO braces between beam and uprights of the gallows, and gallows and handrails unpainted. Moreover, Strasser wears during trial as well as on the gallows a distinctive jacket of Austrian cut and style which is absent on this photo.--Kauko (talk) 12:10, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is just a forum, but yet another hint that the picture does indeed not show Franz Strasser. A person on that forum cites a cemetary in Landsberg as source for his claims that a picture on that forum shows Franz Strasser's execution. The picture on the forum displays a similar beam structure as the pictures referenced in the above-mentioned newspaper articles, but a different beam structure than the picture in this Wikipedia article.
Kauko has already added this information to the discussion page of the image itself. I'm taking the picture out of this article now. Ception (talk) 14:33, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
