The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: whether or not the base title is to be turned into its own article, no consensus to move the disambiguation page to the plain title. Dekimasuよ! 22:41, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support "Free enterprise" is associated with capitalism, but is not an exact synonym. Free market is another concept associated with free enterprise, and I'm sure there are other economics articles that cover similar concepts. Plantdrew (talk) 15:51, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Capitalism is the article where the primary topic of "Free enterprise" is implicitly covered on WP. All other uses are barely notable, but just in case there is a hat link to that Free Enterprise dab page at the top of Capitalism. If it ain't broke... --В²C 22:09, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Free enterprise is a concept in capitalism, but it is not the same thing, so the redirect doesn't make sense. Free enterprise could conceivably exist without capitalism. Laurencedeclan (talk) 23:57, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • They are not exactly the same thing but they are almost identical. If you have "an economic system in which private business operates in competition and largely free of state control" (free enterprise), then you have "an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state" (capitalism), and vice versa. More to the point, redirects don't have to be synonyms at all. They just have to be covered on the target page. For example, the name of a landmark without its own page can redirect to the article about the city that it is in. --В²C 00:06, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • It isn't covered in the target. There is a pretty box that claims it is a synonym for capitalism, but that's about it. At least with a disambiguation page a link to the capitalism article could be provided along with a short definition. It's also not clear that capitalism is the best target for this page. One source [1] begins with "Free enterprise, or the free market...", suggesting that the term has the same meaning as free market (which we have a page on). Laurencedeclan (talk) 02:57, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - "free enterprise" is an appropriate WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT per its standard usage as a term related to capitalism/free market - all the related usages derive from that. We should keep it for easy linking by editors. I would not oppose instead moving this to Free Enterprise (capitalized) - that's how all the alternate subjects use the phrase. -- Netoholic @ 08:07, 3 February 2018 (UTC) Added: I also see free enterprise as having the possibility of being expanded into an article someday. -- Netoholic @ 09:08, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have created Draft:Free enterprise, with some choice quotes. I think that with a short burst of elbow grease, we can have a decent primary target article up within a week. bd2412 T 22:09, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Free enterprise

[edit]

User:BD2412 I'd say just move Draft:Free enterprise to article space so it can be used and improved. Widefox; talk 22:01, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure it can be made better than this first. bd2412 T 22:40, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Free Enterprise 2021 television series

[edit]

I notice there is a television series that started this year (2021) and doesn't seem to have a Wikipedia yet (IMDb page at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14356452/ , have see trailers on television and just watched part of an episode on TV) . Leaving this comment in hopes more will re-check Wikipedia in future to see if article about TV series has been started (and thus link to series article can then be added to this disambiguation page). --EarthFurst (talk) 00:41, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
