Biographies of living persons must be written conservatively, with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid paper; it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives. The possibility of harm to living subjects is one of the important factors to be considered when exercising editorial judgment.

This policy applies equally to biographies of living persons and to biographical material about living persons on other pages. The burden of evidence for any edit on Wikipedia rests with the person who adds or restores material, and this is especially true for material regarding living

External links External links in biographies of living persons must be of high quality and are judged by a stricter standard than for other articles. Do not link to websites that contradict the spirit of this policy or that are not fully compliant with our guideline on external links.[3]

Regarding above nonsense

[edit]

This article is properly referenced. Do not remove legitimate references. The link you removed is used to reference a direct quote and is by a known true crime writer. It is unfortunate that it is on pay site (it was not when the link was made), but it is a legitimate source and should be there for people who want to verify it. - Mafia Expert (talk) 16:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Per my answer at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Gaspare_Mutolo, citations and references are not covered by the quoted WP:LINKSTOAVOID guideline and citing sources that require subscription is equally as acceptable as citing a book that the reader may not own. It does not invalidate the source. Mfield (talk) 22:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fake non-existent reference

[edit]

There is not a link to the NY Daily News. If does not exist. If you search the www.nydailynews.com for Gaspare Mutolo - nothing comes up.

The link that was here went to an advisement to sign up to pay money to get subscription to a newsletter. Winter Overhaul Special (talk) 19:22, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Winter Overhaul Special[reply]
