Possible COI

[edit]

A large part of the article (especially the "Career at UEFA" section) reads like an advertisement and has been written by User:Ninatsi, who appears to be a social media representative at UEFA, according to this LinkedIn profile. Hweimer (talk) 14:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Those edits were not very recent ones. And secondly, the user Ninatsi seems no longer to exist and not even the deletion log has information about him. If the user was deleted, shouldn't something about the deletion be found there? --80.138.38.246 (talk) 18:49, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The user wasn't deleted she just doesn't have a user page so here are her edit contributions. It doesn't matter how recent the edits were made it could still be a possible conflict of interest as not much from the text has been altered. 92.237.211.110 (talk) 03:59, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Untag

[edit]

The Undue tag is there since June 2018. Since then, the balance has shifted as requested [1]. Anyway, initially the issues the tag refers to are part of his office position and of his personal life, and so cannot be deminished. TBH, back in 2018 there were even less office/career notable facts, eg IOC was missing. I will untag. DePiep (talk) 09:08, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comedic vandalism

[edit]

I would like everyone to please refrain from making “funny” edits to this Wikipedia page, this isn’t Reddit, and this page is meant to be informative. I myself don’t like the subject person either, but that doesn’t give me or anyone else the right to lower the credibility of Wikipedia with this infantile behaviour. Update or unlock

[edit]

I appreciate your concern re vandalism, but at the same time after his press conference yesterday the page needs updating, & if the admins won't do it, unlock it so everyone else can. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.85.207.229 (talk) 03:05, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are plenty of users who can make edits to semi-protected pages. If you would like the page updated, you are welcome to make an edit request. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 03:07, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I never actually changed the protection status of the page, my message was simply to stop any vandalism without having to resort to locking the page, which is tantamount to censorship imo, and should only be used when absolutely necessary. Shipyard43328 (talk) 10:29, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is the issue with Wikipedia, It's full of basement-dwelling muppets who use the platform as a way to feel important — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:DB80:A101:79C1:7C5C:8B05:A5F2 (talk) 14:47, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Swiss-Italian?

[edit]

I corrected the "swiss-italian" expression in the lead. A sibling of Italian immigrants in Switzerland (or also an italian immigrated in Switzerland) with double citizenship is not "swiss-italian". I understood what the editor meant, but Swiss-Italian is terribly close to Swiss Italian, which is an Italian speaking inhabitant of Ticino and Grisons Cantons. Infantino was born in Wallis and lives in Zug, and neither canton belong to italian switzerland. To avoid confusion, two alternative could be "helvetic-italian" or "italo-swiss". I also doubt that such an information is relevant for the lead, but I left it there. Alex2006 (talk) 16:07, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alex2006 - I agree that "Swiss-Italian" shouldn't be used. Similarly, in Canada, the term "French-Canadian" may have multiple meanings, but most often refers to a specific group of Canadians who have French ancestry and their descendants. But the term may possibly be used to someone who has dual citizenship or a variety of the language and so on.
It also would be against the guideline of WP:ETHNICITY, which generally notes against using hyphenated terms. They often refer to ethnicity-related contexts (i.e - "German-American" may refer to an American of German descent). Infantino may have dual citizenship (noted throughout the article), but it seems like his life has been largely in Switzerland. It is where he was born, educated and has residence in per sources provided in article. I've left it as just saying "Swiss" for now. It can be further discussed here. Hallo @Clear Looking Glass, I agree with you. I don't think that his "italianity" is notable. Much more important is the fact that he was born in Wallis, a couple of kilometers away from the place where his predecessor was born. :-) Alex2006 (talk) 08:56, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
