Band's current status

[edit]

Does anyone know the band's current status? The article uses the present tense (Goodbye to Gravity is a Romanian metalcore band ) implying that they are still active.

The phrase "metalcore duo" sounds really insulting to the deceased band members. I highly doubt that the two remaining band members would want to continue after the tragic incident. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.157.150.202 (talk) 17:12, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The term 'duo' was completely wide of the mark as the band never existed as a duo and if it were to continue it would undoubtedly have more members once again. I agree that for the time being the band should be considered to be 'inactive' but whether it really is or not will be down to the sole-surviving member (should he now make a full recovery; let's hope he does) once the dust has settled. 5.80.226.251 (talk) 20:47, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

The page Andrei Găluț is largely duplicated in this article. Propose a merger under the guidelines outlined here. Karst (talk) 14:39, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disagree - Whilst you are right in what you are saying; the overload of information on Andrei is due to the page being underdeveloped and not necessarily because there is little to say on the band itself. Goodbye to Gravity existed for four years and released two albums - I'd imagine there is potentially going to be more information about the collective published on this page at some point; plus of course there is much about the Collectiv fire to come to light. Additionally; at this point in time we do not know if Andrei Găluț intends to keep the name alive. As slim a chance as that may be; if he does reform the group there may be many more line-ups and years that will end up requiring their own page separate to his. So for those reasons I think merging the two pages at this moment in time is a little bit premature. Give it a few weeks and the situation may have changed entirely again. 5.80.226.251 (talk) 20:45, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • What the IP editor said We're kinda jumping the gun here. It's too early to tell what the band's future is, grim though it may be, and it is entirely possible that it will not be the only thing he is associated with, for one reason or another. • No merge. The band was and is famous for things unrelated to the lead singer's career. Binksternet (talk) 15:58, 12 November 2015
  • Completely disagree. Goodbye to Gravity has been known in Romania and had some reputation before the Colectiv accident and not for things related to Andrei. He is already famous in Romania for winning the Megastar competition in 2008. Additionally; at the moment, Andrei Găluț fighting for his life somewhere in a hospital in Beverwijk, Netherlands and he may die or he may put an end to his musical career, If he lives. So, he might become known for things unrelated to music. But according to you, we should merge both pages with Colectiv nightclub fire page, 'cause the "is largely duplicated in this article". Get serious! --Galaxyman (talk) 19:51, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify, this is a proposal to merge the Andrei Găluț page with the band page. Not with the article about the fire. Karst (talk) 07:41, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify, I was ironic about the fire article. And still, if Andrei dies what would be the point of merging the two articles? Galaxyman (talk) 08:17, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Please can we not get too serious about this. In fairness to the person who started this discussion they do have a point. If this page is to remain on its own it needs more information added to it. The important point in the case is that it is (at present) too premature to make rash judgements on what the future holds. Kind regards, 5.80.226.251 (talk) 23:53, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Găluț and the band are separate entities with notability independent from each other. If the content is duplicated, ameliorate the content. —烏Γ (kaw) │ 09:52, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
