HMS or not?[edit]

Winfield does not list her in his book covering the Royal Navy between 1793 and 1817, suggesting that she was never commissioned, at least not as far as the Admiralty knew. However, it was not uncommon for local commanders on distant stations to commission vessels without informing the Admiralty. Colledge does mention her, and he states that she was still listed as late as 1810; apparently he was unaware of her loss. The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich lists her as beeing bought or built in 1805, and gives the name of her master in 1806 as A. Bloodsworth. In any case, she was not the only HMS Integrity. Agree she was not formally commissioned - Lyon's "Sailing Navy List" specifically states she was an unregistered vessel. No great surprise given her small size and the remoteness of New South Wales. I've noted her status as an unregistered RN vessel in the article, but as discussed in more detail at WT:SHIPS I think a more accurate article name is HMCS Integrity (1804 ship). The primary sources (essentially Governor King's various items of correspondence) all refer to her as "HM Colonial Cutter" rather than just "HM Cutter" and as an unregistered craft she was never formally recorded as an HMS. -- Euryalus (talk) 13:06, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Further, having now expanded the article to include each voyage it's clear that she only had two masters (Houstoun and Robbins) and sank in 1805, so the vessel commanded by A. Bloodsworth in 1806 must be another ship. -- Euryalus (talk) 13:20, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
