Updates for the Harry Gallatin article.

[edit]

Hi again. I am going to try and start making the necessary citations for the Harry Gallatin article. I am also going to try and upload an image of Harry. If anyone has any suggestions before I do this pleas let me know. Thanks! Fork Stab (talk) 01:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

[edit]

Hi. I am trying to make the necessary citations in the Harry Gallatin article, but I am having a little trouble. I think I know how to cite correctly, but how do I start out a citation so that it will become a footnoted reference? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!Fork Stab (talk) 19:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use a <ref> tag at the beginning and a </ref> tag at the end of your citation. If you will be reusing a reference, you can name it via <ref name=xyz> where "xyz" is your distinguishing name. In between the <ref> and </ref> tags, place your reference. Normally, I'd recommend using a citation template (see Wikipedia:Citation templates), but if you want to keep things simple for now that's fine -- I can clean things up if necessary. — Myasuda (talk) 03:24, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

When making footnoted references how do you cite the source without having the whole citation appear within the article? For instance, I noticed that when you made the footnoted reference in my article that a small 1 appeared after the sentence, and that is what I am trying to accomplish. Everytime I try and edit in a citation the whole citiation is added to the article and is not referred by a number in a reference list. Please help me resolve this problem. Thanks!! I'd have to see what you're trying to do. You can show me on this discussion page, or you can leave your attempt in the actual article to be corrected by myself or some other editor. — Myasuda (talk) 02:38, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note

[edit]

I just attempted to add a footnoted reference to a fact in my article. Hopefully someone can correct this and explain what I need to do in the future to avoid this from happening again. Thanks!!Fork Stab (talk) 18:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I attempted to add a footnoted reference to my article today, and was wondering if anyone out there could correct it or explain to me what needs to be done to correct it. The attempted footnote reference is in the High School/colleg portion of the article. Thanks!12.208.92.38 (talk) 22:48, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed it. Now there are two examples to work from. — Myasuda (talk) 02:19, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NBA player

[edit]

I was just wondering why the entire section, NBA Player, was deleted?12.208.92.38 (talk) 05:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. There was an error in one of the ref tags. I've gone and repaired it. — Myasuda (talk) 12:54, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
