Time to remove the "slanted towards recent events" tag?

Thoughts ? Matilda Maniac (talk) 15:46, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why? The period between 1922 and 1956 is three sentences long and 1956 to 1966 is covered by two sentences. There are essays on the later history. Hack (talk) 03:09, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A massive recentism problem

[edit]

Even though I have just reverted the addition of several thousand more words on it, this article is still dominated by far too much content on the 2022 World Cup. WP:RECENTISM is the relevant policy here. This is the global article on the Socceroos. The amount of content on each World Cup campaign should be roughly the same. I am not an expert here, but if nobody else does something about it soon, I will simply remove large swathes of overkill myself. HiLo48 (talk) 01:52, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Righto, I've gone right ahead and removed masses of irrelevant garbage (that was not really) about the 2022 World Cup. The Qualification section is still a little large, but the content mostly seems relevant. However, it turned out that once I removed the irrelevant nonsense from the actual World Cup section, there was almost nothing left. Nobody had written about the actual games Australia played there! So, I've done my bit. It's time for someone else to contribute. HiLo48 (talk) 06:44, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@HiLo48: I have written up a paragraph for the 2022 World Cup about the matches and notable details. WDM10 (talk) 08:31, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's cool. We needed it. Thanks. My concern is the content about crowds in Fed Square and elsewhere, along with the bit about the crowds at airports. That's not really about the matches. I removed a huge amount of that sort of content from the two sections I've cleaned up. But your addition doesn't contain too much of it, so I'm happy for it to stay.
