Expanded

[edit]

Noted as part of WikiProject Vienna on March 26, 2006, the article on "Hofburg Imperial Palace" was greatly expanded in the revision 19:15 12-August-2006 with a larger History section (which had been only 8 sentences). Because the Hofburg topic spans over 500 years (since 1438?), with wars or remodelling or renaming of buildings, the details have been somewhat confusing to organize and expand. I have been focused recently on the museums, Naturhistorisches Museum (NHMW) and Kunsthistorisches Museum (which took 38 years! to reorganize), but more could be added to the general topic of the "Hofburg Imperial Palace" to have at least a paragraph for each building in the complex, until separate articles can be expanded for each building/subtopic. -Wikid77 13:37, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

REDIRECTing

[edit]

[(revised)] I have redirected many individual Hofburg building names to display the article "Hofburg Imperial Palace" until there is a separate article for each building/subtopic of Hofburg Imperial Palace. Using bold font to indicate words explained by the article, I added a bullet-list of buildings so that the bold-terms would appear to the left end of each line, as shown below.

"The Hofburg has been expanded over the centuries to include:

Each term in bold-face has a Wikipedia article with a REDIRECT to the Hofburg article, for now. Even though the Hofburg is over 500 years old, the topic has been slow to expand in the English Wikipedia, but with those buildings centuries old, there is obviously much information that can be added to handle each building as a separate, notable Wikipedia article in the future. For instance, in the Hofkapelle (chapel), the Vienna Boys Choir sings Mozart chorales a cappella, and the chapel acoustics and Mozart's influence could be described in an article dedicated to the Hofkapelle. I believe that over 20 notable articles could be created, replacing the REDIRECTs with full articles, in the future. -Wikid77 13:59, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

14-November-2006: I have expanded the history of the Hofbibliothek (now the Prunksaal) into the existing article "Österreichische Nationalbibliothek" and re-REDIRECTed both Hofbibliothek and Prunksaal to the expanded article, giving more specific information for both terms. -Wikid77 08:59, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't "Palace" a tautology? Doesn't one refer to it simply as the Hofburg, period? Otherwise, why not call it the Hofburg Court Palace then? Another Wikipedism, like "Palace of Versailles"? --Wetman 01:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism (moves by AstronautB)

[edit]

This article belongs at Hofburg Imperial Palace, but can't be moved back to the correct place because someone edited the redirect instead of moving back. Would some admin please delete Hofburg Imperial Palace and move this back where it belongs. Thanks. -- RTC (talk) 07:50, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I placed Template:Db-move on that page, ideally it should get moved next time an admin wanders through speedy deletion. The history is all over at this page, so pretty soon we should be back to the correct title. There is also Wikipedia:Requested moves for moves that are not quite so obviously clearcut for whatever reason. - Eldereft ~(s)talk~ 15:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Labours of Hercules statues? Sculptor?

[edit]

I expected to find the date and artist, maybe the model, for the 12 Labour of Hercules statues. Anyone have a source?24.141.108.71 (talk) 22:33, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Typo

[edit]

There is a typo in caption to the right of "The contemporary Hofburg" sub-chapter title. Instead of "Wedding Supper at Redoutensaele" you should read "at Redoutensaal". Carlotm (talk) 22:10, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Carlo. I corrected the typo. Bede735 (talk) 01:48, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
