Trademark
[edit]The rumor that Hoverboard is a trademark of Mattel is just a rumor. I have removed it from the article.
In the United States, Hoverboard is a registered trademark of Patmont Motor Werks. The trademark identifies an electrically powered two wheeled scooter for human transportation, produced by Patmont Motor Werks.
This information is verifiable by searching records at the United States Patent and Trademark Office www.uspto.gov

Reeks of Advertising Propoganda
[edit]The site looks like a scam, has no videos, speaks of viable demonstrations but provides nothing. Worst, they charge 100 dollars for a kit. Get this shizzle off the New Alexandria.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.106.159.179 (talk) 10:46, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Please stop deleting the list of hoverboards featured in film, animation, video games
[edit]To the wikipedia users that have contributed to Hoverboard article.
As you know I have restored much of the Hoverboard article concerning list of Hoverboards in popular culture.
Whoever vandalized or deleted my hard work or others hard work. Please stop it. I have painstaking restored that which was unfairly deleted, I have seen hoverboards in these movies, TV shows and video games.
List of live action movies that did feature hoverboards, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", "Spider-Man 3"
List of animated movies and TV shows that did feature hoverboards are "Pinocchio 3000", "The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest", "Treasure Planet", "Wreck-it-Ralph", "Transformers: The movie", "Reboot"
List of video games that did feature hoverboards are "Streak: Hoverboard Racing", "Eyetoy: Antigrav", "Treasure Planet", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Battle Nexus", "Final Fantasy VIII", "Mega Man 2"
List of books that did talk about hoverboards are "The Uglies"
I know it's a long list of Hoverboards in popular culture but please leave it up and let visitors on wikipedia please have a chance to look at the hoverboards in popular culture. I'm trying to be very respectful, fair, and sharing to the Hoverboard article in wikipedias page. If this happens anymore, I will have to request the hoverboard editing page to be locked up.

- We have discussed this before; see the archive of this talk page. Where hoverboards are merely mentioned, or have brief appearances, or appear in one episode, or otherwise don't play a significant recurring role, need not be mentioned. Doing so causes the list to be a WP:INDISCRIMINATE list of WP:TRIVIA. Frankly, the WP:BURDEN for including this material has not been met, in my view.
- I've reverted the additions again. Let's put them back a bit at a time. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:27, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- I agree with all of that except the "Let's put them back a bit at a time." The overwhelming majority should not be put back at all. Consider Pen, Car and Human. Would any of those articles be better if we mention that there are several pens, cars and humans in Blade Runner, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Witness? No, it would be absurd. Should Richard Nixon mention all of the books, films, operas, 31st century jars of liquid, albums, songs, etc. that mention, feature or refer to him? Clearly not. This article is not substantially different in that regard. - SummerPhDv2.0 13:04, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- My point was that, in my revert, I may have removed some legitimate entries in which hoverboards play a significant role, although it looked to me like the bulk of them didn't need to be listed. "Put them back a bit at a time" was meant as "let's review them on a case by case basis." ~Anachronist (talk) 16:10, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes I do know that the hoverboard name isn't mentioned in alot of the popular culture. That's an important part of Hoverboard history. I'm very concerned about the lost hoverboards art forms in popular culture media and I don't want them to go ignored or be forgotten.
Hoverboards are not just restricted to Back to the Future movies and video games. They are still icons in non Back to the future films, TV shows and video games and losing them to deletion is very hard on me and those who are still waiting for hoverboards and I want future generations to know about the hoverboard appearances that were included in those videos and games over the years so they can be inspired to invent one.
I'm still personally upset that the hoverboards of Back to the Future 2-3 didn't arrive in 2015 and it's 2 years later in 2017 and we still are rolling on wheels just like in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s. Yes I know in my heart that hoverboards and hovercars are still restricted to the realms of science fiction.
In the meantime please restore some of the shows and games that featured hoverboards in popular culture including "The Jetsons", "The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest", "Pinocchio 3000", "Treasure Planet", "Wreck-it-Ralph", "Eyetoy: Antigrav", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003", "Final Fantasy VIII", "Streak: Hoverboard Racing", as I have seen these shows and played these games and they mean alot to me and others who was waiting for hoverboards to be real.
Let me know if hoverboards in popular culture are restored back. In the meantime please do your research and watch those Movies, TV shows on youtube I've mentioned because there is proof hoverboards did in fact made their appearances and were used from time to time. And I'm sorry If I sounded a little rude earlier. I'm trying harder to be more respectful to the hoverboard article. CrosswalkX (talk) 17:33, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- The argument is less about about whether it true, and more about whether or not its important to note. None of the items in the list are particularly noteworthy. They're all just pointless comments of "In this movie, a character used a hoverboard. In this game, two people used hoverboards." There's no point to them. I don't mean to sound harsh, but the fact that they personally mean a lot to you...is not a valid reason for inclusion on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 18:47, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- Agreed. Ideally, the criteria for including an item in a list should be: (a) hoverboards played a significant role beyond merely appearing, (b) the topic of hoverboards is significant enough to mention in the parent article linked in the entry, and (c) there are reliable sources that took note of the appearance of a hoverboard. Those criteria aren't mandatory, but generally if those criteria aren't met, all we have is trivia, and trivia should be removed. Wikipedia isn't an indiscriminate collection of information, after all. ~Anachronist (talk) 20:40, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
