Blazingluke: I'd like to appologize to anybody who I may have bothered with my little touch ups. I've done a lot of editing on this one that hasn't really contributed anything. That is all, have a nice day. -Blazingluke 14:53, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Evolution VIII?

[edit]

I've seen under the car lineup that there's an Evo 8 selectable. I've been playing since ver. 2 and special stage and I've never seen an Evo 8. Unless it's in Street Stage, please tell me because as of now I'm taking it out. Thanx.--Chemicalist 20:50, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Initial D Arcade Stage 4

[edit]

There seems to be a lot of specualation around this. The truth is, Sega has announced it. http://the-magicbox.com/game20060816.shtml Not information from Sega themselves, but a reliable source none the less.

Arcade Stage 4

[edit]

The layout for Section 4 was filled with grammatical errors. Fixed up the writing a little and edited the text for better viewing. --JC234 07:19, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Using Bullets to format

[edit]

It seems hard to read the following sections as they are all on separate lines:Initial D Arcade Stage 4,Initial D Special Stage, and Initial D Street Stage. Maybe we should use bullets or somehow clean up the format of those sections. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Love.Of.Knowledge (talkcontribs) 00:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Um, Arcade Stage 6?

Toyota Altezza vs Lexus IS

[edit]

User:Hansen Sebastian has changed vehicle links from Toyota Altezza#XE10 to Lexus IS#XE10, claiming that Altezza is simply a transliteration from the Japanese Wikipedia. But the real-life vehicle was actually sold in Japan as the Toyota Altezza. The Japanese-market Altezza was essentially the same as the international market Lexus IS except for the badges and the usual changes that occur between markets (different choices of engines and trim). But since the vehicle was officially called the Toyota Altezza in Japan and the manga refers to it as the Toyota Altezza, then calling it the Lexus IS is wrong.  Stepho  talk  04:04, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you really wanted the link to be a Toyota Altezza, then the international markets would never have sold the Altezza as the Lexus IS, so the link "Toyota Altezza" should be changed permanently to "Lexus IS" since calling it the Lexus IS is not wrong, because the title of the article being linked to is "Lexus IS" and NOT "Toyota Altezza". Hansen Sebastian 12:23, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Edit: I undid your edit, Stepho, since the link "Lexus IS" is better than "Toyota Altezza", and linking the latter would mean the international markets sold the Altezza while keeping its Japanese name and would never have rebranded it as the Lexus IS. All links that are not the title of an article may become red links in the mean future without notice. Hansen Sebastian 15:02, 6 October 2013 (UTC+7)

I read your sentences over and over but they either turn into circular reasoning or backwards reasoning. The vehicle was advertised as the Toyota Altezza (in both English and Japanese characters), had "Toyota" and "Altezza" badges, the manga says it was the Toyota Altezza, the game says it was the Toyota Altezza, the Japanese Wikipedia says it is the Toyota Altezza and even you yourself still left the displayed content on this article as Toyota Altezza. The name used on the vehicle sold in non-Japanese markets doesn't seem relevant. Wikipedia allows for redirections (see WP:REDIRECT). This allows us to use the topic name (in this case Toyota Altezza) instead of the name of the actual article (Lexus IS). One of the main purposes of redirection is to allow this so that the article can talk about the subject matter (Altezza) instead of distractingly having to translate the link name to the name of the vehicle in a completely different market. So I'm a bit mystified as too how the name "Altezza" is forbidden.
The original link Toyota MR-S was also similarly correct for the Japanese market (in real life, the manga and the game) and also went directly to the relevant section of the MR2 article. Your change to Toyota MR2 is wrong for the Japanese market and goes to the top of the MR2 article instead of the correct section, leaving the reader perplexed about where he is supposed to be.
I had also made similar links to the specific sections for the Supra JZA80, Lancer Evolution VII and Celica GT-Four ST205, which you removed in favour of no link or generic links to the top of the articles.
Lastly, you took the link to the very specific Toyota FT-86 G Sports Concept (which was not the production model) and changed it to the production model Toyota 86. We should link to the actual vehicle used in the game, not to a similar vehicle that entered the marketplace afterwards.
On a point of protocol, the preferred way of changing things is to go ahead and do it (as you did with your initial change). If somebody disagrees then they can revert it with a descriptive edit summary (as I did). If you feel that your change was worthwhile then you can make a point on this talk page and we can discuss it. Hopefully, a consensus can be reached among the editors. Reinstating your own change should wait until the end of the discussion. Early reinstatement encourages tension, resentment and edit wars, which we all wish to avoid. See WP:BRD.  Stepho  talk  09:00, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No reply? Should I assume that you are happy with my explanation and that I can restore it back to the way I prefer it?  Stepho  talk  01:59, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Still no reply, so I restored the full links.  Stepho  talk  13:26, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Toyota MR-S

[edit]

To Hansen Sebastian: Toyota MR-S is both the correct name and goes to the correct article for the correct generation. Changing it to Toyota MR2 takes you to the correct article but to the wrong generation. Changing it to Toyota MR2#W30 superficially appears to do the same job but one day we may decide to separate the MR2 article into an article for each generation. If we do that then we will also change Toyota MR-S to redirect to that new article so that all articles linking to Toyota MR-S will automatically go to the new article - without having to examine and edit each and every link to the MR2 in every article on Wikipedia. We can't do that if you use Toyota MR2#W30. In short, the existing link for the MR-S does the job we need today and also allows for future changes. Your link does the job for today but does not allow for future changes. See WP:REDIRECT and more specifically, WP:RTOA and WP:R#NOTBROKEN.  Stepho  talk  13:41, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To Hansen Sebastian: Please read WP:REDIRECT, WP:RTOA and WP:R#NOTBROKEN. From your edits, it is obvious that you don't agree with what I have written above. Please, please tell us what part you disagree with and why. Hopefully one of us will learn something and we can stop this slow motion edit war.  Stepho  talk  06:55, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To Hansen Sebastian: Please re-read this section and the section above. Waiting for a few months and trying to sneak it in doesn't accomplish anything.  Stepho  talk  23:21, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

I removed the stuff that was blatant video game trivia. Everything left is still unsourced but potentially useful, but if there are no sources for the material, it should be removed. I maintain after a video game reliable sources custom Google search that this "article" should redirect to the main series where it can build out summary style as necessary. – czar 04:41, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

Should this be merged with the main Initial D article in a "Video games" tab? Kac Calhoon (talk) 21:19, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's better in a separate article (ie, no change). If it was merged then its sheer size would overwhelm the Initial D article.  Stepho  talk  09:37, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Number of arcade games

It says there are 11 arcade titles but only lists 10. Is it only 10 or is there a game missing? 176.35.36.245 (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
