I have some familiarity with the subject, having gone to the Chidon myself a while back. Enc. Judaica has an article about this. I'll log in and work on it at some point. 69.201.182.76 08:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

but the American Chidon does. Where? It doesn't seem to exist. 68.197.235.178 16:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

list of winners

[edit]

The lists should be limited to 'winner' and the two 'assistant winners' as declared. 4th and 5th place (and 6th) and all contestants are respectable nonetheless. --Shuki (talk) 00:18, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All who make it to the Prime Minister's question are considered 'assistant winners' and receive recognition by the Chidon.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.159.252.183 (talkcontribs)
On the official chidon hatanach winners list here, only the top three are listed. Only top three should be listed unless the winners are noteworthy for some particular reason. In addition, a table template could be used for the list of winners to improve the readability of the names that are displayed. For notable mentions, a notes column could be added.--Relspas (talk) 16:06, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I made an official separate list here. It is linked to in the winners section of the main article. Something should be done about the winners listed in the winners section to clean it up. --Relspas (talk) 06:16, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of questions?

[edit]

I'd like some example of the questions. Is it a contest of memorization? Questions about the meaning of passages? Personal essays on a chosen piece? --Error (talk) 22:55, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can see some sample questions, here at this link. Happy138 (talk) 10:30, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The above link doesn't lead to sample questions but rather to a list of material needed to be studied. On the other hand, this book of bible contest questions includes three actual complete sets of previous Q&A. There is a sample page of questions in the photo gallery. --Shuki (talk) 23:32, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ehem, I don't understand Hebrew. --Error (talk) 00:38, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Check the link I posted above. It does have questions from the Contest. Happy138 (talk) 14:49, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Chidon

[edit]

High School in Canada goes beyond grade 8 - to 11 in Quebec and 12 in the rest of the country. Is there a Chidon for them? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 18:53, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Happy138 (talk) 20:06, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Missing

[edit]

For an encyclopaedic article, one could be forgiven for thinking the contest began in 2007, except for the brief mention of David Ben Gurion founding it. Why no history of the event before this date? Surely the earlier history is relevant. Why no mention of winners in the earlier adult and worldwide competitions? This article focuses on what appears to be exclusively Jewish recent events, and ignores the earlier events open to everyone regardless of religion. For example, the 1961 event was won jointly Mrs Yolanda da Silva of Brazil and another, and the 1964 event was won by Graham Mitchell of Australia. Neither of these were Jewish. In the interests of completeness, more should be included. Ptilinopus (talk) 22:37, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
