[edit]Hi,
- Someone should write a real article someday. I added categories, put a capital letter at the beginning of the phrase "Barbilian spaces", wrote 1895 instead of 1885 as his year of birth, and erased the absurdity about his Armenian origin. His father had changed the family name from Barbu to Barbilian (ironically, it sounded more Latin to him, not more Armenian, and there was a trend to make Romanian names sound more Italian, more French, more Latin, or even more Romanian!). Dan Barbilian used his grandfather's name, Ion Barbu, to sign his volumes of poetry.

- hello, how can a stub article become a real one? Ion Barbu deserves this!!! Dragosioan 17:31, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hello! Well, to make it a real article you simply add in the relevant information (with references preferably) and format the article according to general WP guidelines. If you want to undertake the task, RO Wiki has a better article wich could be used as a source of info or can be outright translated. You can follow the link to the RO article from the "In other languages" box on the left of the (english) article. AdamSmithee 22:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Origins
[edit]He was not of Armenian origin: his wife, Gerda Barbilian, in Ion Barbu: amintiri, Cartea Românească, 1975 has an explanation for both his name and his family's origins:
His father was named "Constantin Barbu", but in his school, there were too many students named "Barbu", so his Latin teacher chose the name last name "Barbilian", from "barbilia" (meaning "bărbie", chin) and he kept this name after that.
She also mentions a family legend that says that his great-grandfather, Ion Barbu (from which he took the name), was a "Romanian from Albania" i.e. an Aromanian. bogdan (talk) 19:15, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Poetry
[edit]Hi, shouldn't the fact that he only published ONE poetry volume because he felt that is all he had to say be mentioned? i find it interesting when artists do this :P, and it's not clear at all that he did publish one soul volume. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.81.59.2 (talk) 13:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
