The information on this page is a bit incorrect. The Dinar is not related to the Iranian currency. I'm not sure if that information is correct. Can someone confirm?

Contradiction

Please discuss at Talk:Iranian toman --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 10:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

My mistake. Never mind. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 11:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Question

The United States is the country with the world's largest economy. Iran's lack of economic relations with the U.S., inter alia, have led to the instability of Iran's currency Is this really needed, I doubt it to be the case. Enlil Ninlil 06:07, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I would doubt that too. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 21:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Rate

How could its value be 9000 or so in 1999 and 1764 in 2000? wow a fluctuating currency. Enlil Ninlil 04:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

The list of historical exchange rate was most likely a stale copy of the CIA data. It doesn't look right to me. I removed it. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 21:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

50000 rial note

I have one. Shall I scan it? It's interesting. It has a uranium symbol and the Persian Gulf is named in English on a map. Actually I have several other Iranian banknotes I could scan. -- Evertype· 00:44, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Redenomination

What is the proposed rate for the redenomination? 1,000:1? 10,000:1? The links in the reference are broken Nik42 18:31, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Khomeini.10000.rial.jpg

Image:Khomeini.10000.rial.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Deadlink reference

On 13.03.2007, 01:54 (EET), User:Gerash77 added a reference to an address shown in Google Cache, which years later wouldn't show and would prove itself insufficient as a URL, as it would not in particular refer to any article on the referred site. Searches at the Internet Archive for a capture from the same date were not very productive (I don't understand Persian script, so if the Wayback Machine contains something relevant of that site from March 2007, then it would be good to include). -Mardus (talk) 05:44, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Current Rate

The historical rate of Rial to dollar lists 17000+ rials to the US dollar in Jan 2012, but I checked today (Feb 1) and it was just over 11000 to the dollar. Which should we use? In fact, given that the prices are instantaneous, how do we determine the price that should be listed in a highly volatile year? Poyani (talk) 19:30, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Actually I am getting different number from different sources.Poyani (talk) 19:33, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

How can we now estimate its value? Official circles have held it steady, but the currencies is collapsing at an alarming rate by all accounts. When free currency trade is forbidden and burgeoning hyperinflation is taking hold, what is the best means of estimating value? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.217.165.34 (talk) 10:09, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

"CIA manipulation"

The section regarding "CIA market manipulation", in my opinion requires non-Iranian sources.

Sources like the Iranian PressTV aren't exactly reliable, going by most accounts.

PressTV says the SAME as Newsweek/MSNBC (source also given). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.49.102 (talk) 08:41, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Merge Iranian rial banknotes into Iranian rial. Klbrain (talk) 15:27, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

I think that Iranian rial banknotes should be merged into Iranian rial for the following reason:

  1. Currently Iranian rial banknotes is lacking all the Iranian rial from prior to 1980.
  2. The information on Iranian rial banknotes is an exact duplicate of the banknote section in Iranian rial
  3. The Iranian coinage is called the "toman". Therefore the only current Banknote in Iran is the rial. So the Iranian rial is the Iranian rial banknotes. There is no difference between the two, making them duplicate articles.

--ARTEST4ECHO (talk/contribs) 15:39, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Actually not true. A toman is equal to 10 rial, and is not the name for a coin. Travelbird (talk) 11:04, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Regardless of the error in defining the Iranian toman, nevertheless, arguments 1 and 2 hold. Therefore, agree with Merge. Klbrain (talk) 15:27, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
