Why do remove sourced information from example the birth day? You should ask for citation before deleting it completely. If you think source it not correct.Lobo151 (talk) 07:05, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Bond’s date of birth is not known and Fleming changes when it could be. It was discussed twice in above threads, but I’ll quote what I said there for ease. “The date of birth is a problematic point. Fleming contradicts himself on dates, so it’s just not possible to work out when Bond was born or exactly what age he was at any particular point (outside those Fleming specifically mentions). You state categorically that Bond was born in 1916. Fleming disagrees. Bond left school aged 17 and “By now it was 1941 and, by claiming an age of nineteen and with the help of an old Vickers colleague of his father, he entered a branch of what was subsequently to become the Ministry of Defence.” If he was 17 in 1941, he was born in 1924. He’d also have been 14 when it was 1938 and he joined the Service and was sent to a casino in Portugal. Fleming didn’t keep track of the exact dates of Bond’s life and mixes them around a lot. It’s why we can’t piece together a seamless and perfect timeline, and why we have to use secondary sources.
The other comment on the date is further up, written by Betty Logan.
As discussed in the sections above there are several possibilities for Bond's dob due to Fleming's inconsistency, so we should refrain from engaging in the guess work ourselves. Fleming was just ahead of his time with a floating timeline; that would perhaps be a more interesting and encyclopedic angle rather than attempting to pin down exactly how old Bond is. As for the Welsh lollipop man his potential connection to Fleming makes him worthy of mention but we don't need his life story. Betty Logan (talk) 12:07, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
