Croyde[edit]

In the James Cracknell article it says that his son was born in 2004, however in the Beverley Turner article their son is down as being born in 2005! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sampeach3 (talk • contribs) 16:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Cycling accident[edit]

I have removed comments:

"However as a cycling helmet is not designed for such impacts the it could not possibly have taken the full force of being hit by a truck."

which is true, but not actually supported by the reference and not relevant to the news reports, which say that the helmet hit the road.

"The Cycling Weekly report indicates that his brain injury may have been caused by the helmet. Rotational brain injuries are often caused by crashing when riding with a helmet. {{cite web |title=Cycle helmets and rotational injuries |url=http://www.cyclehelmets.org/1039.html |publisher=British Helmet Research Foundation |date=1 March 2010"

which is synthesis, giving a reference which makes a (suitably cautious) remark on possible rotational injury and taking it to apply in this particular case. Again, the comment may be perfectly true, but it won't do for Wikipedia. Please don't put this back in unless you can find suitable sources.

Brand advertising in Cycling accident section[edit]

There is overt reference to a brand of cycling equipment which is unnecessarily repeated several times within the paragraph. This needs to be removed immediately

I agree and have updated the article as it was too heavily pushing the sponsorship with a contradictory statement by Cracknell of not having a commercial interest in the gear whilst being promoted as a sponsored athlete by the manufacturer. Besides, a helmet getting split in two might be better forgotten about. Nasnema  Chat  08:40, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cycling accident factual update[edit]

Nearly four years on, I think it's time to rewrite parts of the cycling-accident section. Sentences such as "He is now back at home with his family" could be updated/replaced for example with the legal outcome of the incident, i.e. the resolution reached between James and the driver, if applicable.
