Powys Society in the US?
[edit]I've removed a dead link to the US Powys Society - does this still exist?

Reference or Spam?
[edit]I'm not entirely certain why the reference to Paul Roberts' "Becoming Mr Nobody: the philosophy and poetry of John Cowper Powys" is spam. The book does seem to exist. Agingjb (talk) 07:44, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Complex vision
[edit]Project Gutenberg has The Complex Vision. How does it fit in? 62.64.205.76 (talk) 13:48, 6 November 2008 (UTC) Couldnt resist improving the markup Victuallers (talk) 19:44, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Mysterious (7)
[edit]In the History section, paragraph starting with "Periodically", there's a "(7)" at the end of a sentence. I think this may be for a citation that didn't quite work out, but I don't know if it's for Langridge or what. Modal Jig (talk) 18:33, 23 February 2010 (UTC) If you decide it is then Ive shown hw to get two callouts for the same ref. If you're not sure then delete it I think Victuallers (talk) 19:46, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'll leave it to someone who knows. I was just passing through, looking for stray punctuation, etc. ;-) But I added a comment in the edit window. Modal Jig (talk) 21:11, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
The (7) indicates the page for the quotation --MLA style. Rwood128 (talk) 17:51, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
External links -- overloaded?
[edit]This seems a little crowded. Those that deal with Powys's reputation probably should be deleted, as this is dealt with in the article. Unless there are objections, I'll prune the list -- this will place more emphasis on the major links.Rwood128 (talk) 18:11, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Start class?
[edit]Clearly this is no longer start class? Rwood128 (talk) 12:56, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Rwood128: I've upgraded it to C-class (following review request at WP:BIO). For B-class, the lead is inadequate, and there are unreferenced sentences and paragraphs. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:24, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
I believe that the lede now conforms and have removed that banner.Rwood128 (talk) 18:24, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
WP:Circular
[edit]Re User talk:Ost316) recent edit. I understand perfectly the objection re WP: Circular, but the link takes the reader directly to a bibliography that gives details of numerous translations in the particular language. This seems a better form of citation than the obvious alternative, which would be listing these works in a citation. I can cut and paste if required, if rules rule, but that will result in a cumbersome citation – though notes may be better. Or these titles could be added to this page's bibliography? Rwood128 (talk) 16:56, 18 November 2015 (UTC),
- To put it another way: I think it better (more sensible) to use the links than add the titles in some form to this page. I see this as more a sharing of a bibliography rather than WP: CircularRwood128 (talk) 17:11, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Elemental
[edit]Bmcln1, re my deletion of the reference to elemental in the lede, there is a need for citations for both JCP and Hardy (or better a section discussing this}. I will try and fix this unless you do it first. Rwood128 (talk) 14:25, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'd be grateful. I seem to have got way behind with my Wikipedia duties. I'll have a look in a day or two. Bmcln1 (talk) 16:32, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- No worry. Anyhow the topic interests me. Rwood128 (talk) 16:38, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not able to find a good source to support the idea that Hardy has a similar elemental philosophy to Powys. The word "elemental" is however, used to describe how Hardy uses setting, especially in The Return of the Native. I sense, Bmcln1, that the word is used differently by JCP. Rwood128 (talk) 12:52, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- I've put up a possibility. Does that come nearer the truth? Bmcln1 (talk) 17:39, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
