What did he actually do?[edit]

According to this BBC acticle, the book bound with his skin claims that Horwood "took up a large stone and with the utmost savage ferocity nearly beat her skull to pieces". The Daily Mail article cited claims that he only threw a pebble which caused a minor injury, and the death was entierly due to a botched medical procedure. The other cited sources seem to be closer to the Mail story (only mentioning the thrown stone) but don't seem to be quite a scathing of the medical treatment. However, all these sources are just news reports (and one forum post). Do we have any more reliable sources for what actually happened? (A tried a few quick Gogle searches, but couldn't find anything official - just more modern news reports, a couple of low-detail history articles, and several opinion pieces that seem to jump to the conclusion "he was poor and stupid - so obviously he was a victim of Establishment prejudice". Hi Iapetus, thanks for your comment, I have updated and extended the article to use some sources from Bristol Record Office and other online sources which hopefully shed a bit more light on the subject. BRO MarkS (talk) 11:05, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
