I don't actually care about this guy, and am too lazy to research him but.... "He turned down a nomination for Vice Presidential candidate in 1812, and later retired until he planned his death in 1819." is probably not appropriately phrased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.2.51.190 (talk) 01:37, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious

[edit]

I have a problem with the following line. I saw this as I was researching Langdon for a school report. As the representative of a small state, wouldn't he have wanted the Senate to be granted more power? I'm not sure if this is inaccurate or just poorly phrased. Also, I followed the citation and found no reference to Langdon on that page.

During the 1787 Constitutional debates in Philadelphia, Langdon spoke out against James Madison's proposed "negative" on State laws simply because he felt that should the Senate be granted this power and not the House of Representatives, it would "hurt the feelings" of House members.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.97.223.89 (talk) 21:27, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A reference to Madison's "negative" would be helpful.
