Notability

[edit]

Sources seem scarce however one of his books is cited over 200 times in Scholar; another over 100 times. The number of books published, citations, and the detailed NYT obit assert notability.

My apologies SBaker43. While you put in infobox and categories AND some more I was working with what was left of the source/s to use AND some misprints here and there and we had a collision. I was unable to quite work into your text and since you did not seem to have made major changes to the articles body I am afraid I overrode your version (kept the infobox and categories though). I am so sorry, but I had no way to find all the changes I had made. Now I am in a quandary to find out quite what was the difference. I do think I have found the available net sources. There seems to be one more source available (Marquis Who's Who) this seems to be paper only. --Dyveldi ☯ prattle ✉ post 19:40, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Dyveldi I'm sorry for the problem; I've suffered collisions before — it seems I'm often on the re-work-it end. I originally just started to make a couple of minor changes but got more deeply involved than I had intended. Thanks for starting and continuing to work on this article; I never cease to be amazed at the number of important articles that are needed.
Again, my apologies for interrupting your work. SBaker43 (talk) 21:15, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You did most certainly not interrupt my work SBaker43! I should have checked the revision history while working (I try to, but do sometimes forget and I was a bit premature since I ticked save page instead of show preview by a mistake before finishing) and adjusted my work accordingly. Your improvements are much appreciated. My surprise was working with Jitterbug and finding a prolific scholar who had to be well known, but no article. Pity the obituary seems to be the only source of any size. --Dyveldi ☯ prattle ✉ post 21:37, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Twadell ShipleyJoseph T. ShipleyWP:CONCISE, WP:MIDDLENAME. We don't include full middle names unless the person is usually known that way (or sometimes for disambiguation though that is discouraged because the middle names are not usually known by readers). This particular person is usually referred to and credited as Joseph T. Shipley, which already redirects here anyway.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  07:22, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
