Retrenchment Society president

[edit]

Julina was not the first ward Retrenchment Society president. See "History of the YLMIA" (Gates), 40 for Julina's installation and the preceding pages for earlier ward organizations. 76.23.51.252 (talk) 17:59, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The text says she was the ward-level first Retrenchment Society president in Salt Lake City, which may or may not be the same thing. It is sourced to Andrew Jenson, Latter-day Saints Biographical Encyclopedia 4:69. After examining the Gates source, I can't see any indication that any particular person is named as the first ward-level Retrenchment Society president. It looks like a sequence of events that is recounted, but no explicit statement is made as is done in Jenson. Perhaps one way to resolve this is to state that Smith was "one of the first".
