Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --85.151.135.134 (talk) 17:41, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Karl Sheppard is a footballer at a Premier League club. Given the nature of football it is likely the deletion idea came from a rival fan

I declined the G4 speedy since his signing with Reading is clearly a material change that has taken place since the AfD. That said until he make an actual first team appearance for them, he may well still fail WP:NFOOTY, but that is properly handled in a new AfD discussion. If his signing generated enough interest, for example, he might meet the WP:GNG based on that. Eluchil404 (talk) 05:04, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... Karl Sheppard is a professional footballer. I created this new article about him while he was playing professionally at Shamrock Rovers, including in the Champions League & Europa League. At the time it said his original article had been deleted because he was not a professional sportsman. The original one had obviously been created & deleted whilst he was still in youth or amateur football. Clearly now that he has established himself the discussion should be closed and the article left up. Does a player have to sign for Manchester United or Chelsea before their article goes uncontested? He is a professional sportsman and there are numerous newspaper articles online to attest to that fact. Case closed.Craft24 (talk) 20:44, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
