A bit of doggerel

[edit]

It's a bit of a reach (which is why I'm asking here instead of being bold), but d'you suppose that we could justify including Alexander Pope's verse in this article?

I am his Highness's dog at Kew.
Pray tell me, sir, whose dog are you?

I know that the connection to Kew is tenuous, but that verse is the reason I visited Kew Gardens when I went to England as a child... —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 04:31, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Go on, add it - it is a bit of fun and referenced to a more than notable author - I thought the quote was "His Majesty's dog at Kew" though, I could be wrong - I often am on matters of poetry! I'm sure it can be worked in without seeming inapropriate. Giano 19:58, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done; having discovered who "His Highness" was in the poem, it wasn't too difficult to incorporate. And apparently it is "Highness'", not "Majesty's" — see discussion at Talk:Kew (where it turns out the verse had already been included). —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 07:38, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elizabeth I at Kew

[edit]

There have been more that three palaces at Kew. There was also a Kew Palace given to Robert Dudley by Queen Elizabeth I. Danny (talk) 21:42, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Random quotes about the third palace

[edit]

Most of the section on the third palace seems to consist of a selection of unattributed and barely connected quotes. These go at least two years and 15 revisions back, but I don't understand how they haven't bothered any of the other editors. Waxbean (talk) 20:03, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disorganised

[edit]

This isn't really about the palace/s. It's quite hard work to read - its mostly about the comings and goings of the inhabitants. It needs refocussing on the palace and buildings. Secretlondon (talk) 15:02, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
