The page Koni Burton should be deleted, as the correct spelling is "Konni". Billy Hathorn (talk) 04:15, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Koni Burton
[edit]I propose merging the content from the article on this BLP at the misspelled name into the article with the correctly spelled name and then leaving a redirect from there to here. — {{U|Technical 13}} (e • t • c) 06:13, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
- Not sure what there is to merge in this case. The text of both is almost identical, both were created on the same day by the same user. I am just going to redirect Koni Burton to this article.--ukexpat (talk) 17:34, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Hysterical slanderous lies by the extreme left wing media are not welcome here. The bill's text is freely available and a short read (2 pages), as is Konni Burton's article that she wrote about the bill and about the attorney general's opinion that spurred it. It has nothing to do with LGBT students except that it was brought to the attention of lawmakers due to a school policy adopted this year that focused on LGBT students, which was highly unconstitutional, as per SCOTUS precedent and Texas AG opinion. Current texas law was vague on the matter, so Konni introduced a bill to change it. FFS, stop with the stupidity. Seriously. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C0:8200:4830:81E3:A5B7:FE24:F3F (talk) 05:19, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
- Please stop edit warring over this. Do not remove the information again, and please keep your comments on this page calm and factual. Her bill is a matter of record. The bill has attracted widespread coverage and deserves inclusion on this page. I have added more detail about what she says about it. --MelanieN (talk) 03:17, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you @MelanieN: for adding that content. I agree that this user should stop blanking sourced info. I requested page protection so that this user can no longer engage in edit warring. Kbabej (talk) 03:20, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- I think what is now in the article is neutral and well sourced. I am going to decline page protection. If the user keeps doing it, request it again on the RFPP page or ask me directly. --MelanieN (talk) 03:23, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks! Kbabej (talk) 03:25, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- It's fine now. At least it's balanced and informational, not perpetuating stupidity. Blanking is the correct course of action when people are constantly posting tabloid shock crap about people on wikipedia. BLP applies. Read it!!!!
- Will do. Thanks! Kbabej (talk) 03:25, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

This is why I stopped editing wikipedia. You people don't understand the above mentioned policies. They exist so wiki doesn't get sued to shit for slander and libel, which is what this page consisted of. 2601:1C0:8200:4830:48EA:B2C2:61D7:E54 (talk) 03:48, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- @MelanieN:, are you able to page protect this article please? The above user, after being warned, is still actively disrupting the article and removing sourced information. Kbabej (talk) 04:08, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- Kbabej, you are violating multiple wikipedia policies including engaging in edit warring. 2601:1C0:8200:4830:48EA:B2C2:61D7:E54 (talk) 04:12, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- You are required to edit from a neutral point of view. You're a self-proclaimed Democrat and Atheist adding questionable content to a page about a right-wing legislator. You clearly have edited several BLP articles, yet you don't seem to be familiar with basic WP policies about BLP. 2601:1C0:8200:4830:48EA:B2C2:61D7:E54 (talk) 04:14, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- Also, you haven't even remotely fact checked the article. The tweet happened prior to the article in the Austin Chronicle, not later, as originally stated here. By the way, the Austin Chronicle (Per wikipedia) is a left-wing tabloid, and the author has an obvious personal conflict with Burton that is clearly documented on Twitter. The only one disrupting is you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C0:8200:4830:48EA:B2C2:61D7:E54 (talk) 04:18, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
Also Kbabej is a known sockpupeteer with a history of editing LGBT related articles using his sockpuppets. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Kbabej&oldid=732968276 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C0:8200:4830:48EA:B2C2:61D7:E54 (talk) 05:01, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- I don't see how that's relevant, but just to ease your mind the issue of me sockpuppeting is already resolved. Also, having an interest on WP (LGBT articles in this case) is completely legitimate. Everyone has interests, and they edit accordingly. Instead of attacking users, how about concentrating on the content of the article and starting a talk page discussion with what you want to see changed (instead of continuing to edit war)? Never Trump Claim
[edit]"After Donald Trump rose to capture the Republican nomination, Burton became a leading supporter of the Never Trump movement within the Texas Republican Party.[26][28]"
This claim is false. Sen. Burton has never made a public statement in support of the Never Trump movement or its goals. The Never Trump movement, according to Wikipedia, was a movement designed to stop Donald Trump from securing the GOP nomination. One of the articles linked to substantiate this false claim actually completely undermines it. Citation 26 contains the following on Sen. Konni Burton: "State Sen. Konni Burton, R-Colleyville, is a staunch Ted Cruz supporter who had hoped to go to the national convention to support him — until he dropped out of the presidential race. Then she decided to stay home. She hasn’t publicly come on board to the Trump campaign and has taken him to task on social media." If Sen. Burton was a supporter of Never Trump, why would she cancel her plans to attend the GOP National Convention? Furthermore, again according to Wikipedia, she is not listed as a Republican who opposed Donald Trump (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Republicans_who_opposed_the_Donald_Trump_presidential_campaign,_2016), because there is absolutely no evidence that she did. Being openly critical of a politician's policies or public comments does not make one a leading supporter of a specific movement with a stated goal. The implications of such a dubious association for the standards on Wikipedia are vast.
This claim is false and does not represent the provable facts and should be removed. Claims of her strong support of Sen. Ted Cruz are well documented and should remain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.69.233.192 (talk) 01:58, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- Toddst1, I saw you endorsed the removal, and I was about to thank you for it but now I'm having doubts: that one article seems pretty clear. I do not know what the IP is talking about--and that apparently Burton "took him to task on social media" only confirms the NeverTrump thing. Drmies (talk) 02:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- I find plenty of sources that support the senator's stance, even if that stance today is politically tricky. For instance, "Sen. Konni Burton, a Republican who often pushes civil-liberties legislation to protect personal information and property, was a fierce critic of Trump during the campaign". There's plenty more. Drmies (talk) 02:04, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Drmies: (e/c) I looked around for another source to strengthen the claim, but couldn't find anything that directly supports it. It's clear that she opposes him and that Trump has singled her out, but I couldn't find anything that said Burton became a leading supporter of the Never Trump movement within the Texas Republican Party. Try googling Burton + "Never Trump." Feel free to revert my removal if you disagree or maybe it just needs rewording. Toddst1 (talk) 02:08, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hey, Todd, no I'm not ready to do that yet, but I do find it interesting; or maybe I find the IP's comment interesting. I have not (yet) found "leading" supporter, but I did find plenty of sourced material about her opposition to Trump. User:NorthBySouthBaranof, if you're bored... Drmies (talk) 02:14, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
