The image File:Karnatakauniversity.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This Image is owned by Kuvempu University and it has been used under legal consise —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.163.79.120 (talk) 11:07, July 12, 2009
The problem with using images owned by the university is that the university must then release their copyrighted image under a different license to allow its use here. If you are affiliated with the university and would like to donate your copyrighted image to Wikipedia, you can follow the directions to do so. However, if you do not work for the university, you can't donate something owned by someone else. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 17:48, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The image that were used is under kuvempu university permission and wikipedia is free to use this images we have no problem with like to use this image but do not let someone to vandalise this article at all.--Rock5410 (talk) 10:26, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad you got permission from the university before using the image here, but that has to be documented. We can't simply take it on faith that you got permission. After all, anyone could make the claim that "I talked to someone at this university and they said it's OK." When you upload images, that documentation has to be available to everyone on Wikipedia. I've seen nothing on KU's site showing a GFDL or CC-By-SA license. Make the permission transparent to everyone; it can't simply exist behind closed doors. Please review the guidelines on donating copyrighted materials and send an email granting permission or change the license on your webpages so that it's compatible with Wikipedia. Kuvempu University informally known as University of Kuvempu or simply Kuvempu. All this must be redirect to the Kuvempu University. And please do something so that it comes on google's top 10 search websites--122.163.79.95 (talk) 13:43, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kuvempu is an existing article about a writer; we can't just delete a whole other article so this can have a redirect. University of Kuvempu already redirects to this article. Good Wikipedia articles often rank highly in search engine results, but I think you should focus on the quality of the article rather than any tricks to improve the SEO. If you'd like to learn more about improving the quality of articles you work on, start with the Five Pillars of Wikipedia to get a better idea of what Wikipedia is and isn't. Then, you might review the Article Development explanation, which lists ways you can help grow an article. However, I will also note that when I search for "Kuvempu University" on Google, this article is the third result. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 16:22, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, but in google India search it doesn't come on the top ten websites i mean on www.google.co.in therefore if you can try to do at least something, so that it comes on top google India search websites, its my earnest request to you. I will definitely improve this article as much as i can. Thank You.--122.161.165.238 (talk) 13:53, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As I explained, the only way to improve search engine results is to improve the quality of the article. It isn't like there is a switch we can flip here that just pops it into those listings. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 14:17, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been rated as C because it still in a developing stage but some aditional informaion is required to make it good article according to wikipedia.--122.163.3.41 (talk) 08:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The article has been reverted to start because its not fully developed and further more IMP information is required to verify this article.--122.161.165.211 (talk) 05:10, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A significant change has been made specially in this image category.Don't remove the images within secen weeks i will upload on wikipedia commons.--122.161.165.211 (talk) 06:00, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just don't upload any of those images from KU's gallery, since we can't use them here. Images are listed on the possibly unfree content page for 14 days, so the images currently tagged will likely be gone by August 7. Note that removing the notice in the captions won't stop or delay that process. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 11:37, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, what you have said and i removed those images from my self now can i upload other images apart from these images, if you give me permission. And should i change it from stub material to start does it help to improve the article. Thank you.--Mymac007 (talk) 11:53, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't my permission you need; it's written permission from the university, either posted on their site or emailed to Wikipedia. As for evaluating the start or stub class of an article, I'm not involved with Wikiproject India to be able to tell you their qualifications for articles at different levels. Simply changing that status doesn't improve the quality of the article though. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 12:33, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IMP

[edit]

I have tried to improve this article as much as i can now my question you is where do you think the article is lacking from being good, if think anything further is required please tell me i will try to add those stuff.--122.162.16.208 (talk) 12:59, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to see some criticisms of the university for balance, for starters. The language needs to be more neutral instead of like a brochure: "The contemporary and well-equipped building of Library in Kuvempu University offers outstanding infrastructure facilities" is far too much advertising for an encyclopedia. The grammar also needs a general cleanup. Check out the guidelines for university articles for more details on the structure and expectations. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 13:21, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing you could do to improve the article is to remove anything that is taken from other sources. I haven't done a full check on this article yet, but I suspect that more copyright violations have been missed here (like the library information I discovered yesterday). This can't be considered a good article when it contains non-free content. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 19:28, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The central university tab has been removed because this is a state university not a central university of govt of India. Although the article needs some cleanups if possible images could be added.--122.161.62.61 (talk) 12:53, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Extraneous lists

[edit]

Looking at WP:UNIGUIDE, I think this article has several sections that should be cut. Specifically, it seems like this article is being used as a directory for a list of departments and affiliated schools rather than an encyclopedic summary. To me, it seems like the list of departments goes against this guideline: "Because Wikipedia is not a directory, do not attempt to list every major, degree, or program offered in this or any section." The fact that it's simply a list also supports removing the entire section. The second list that I think needs to be removed is under "Affiliated Colleges Under Kuvempu University." The paragraph in this section makes sense and is encyclopedic, but this shouldn't be a directory. I'd rather find an external link with a list of those affiliated colleges and provide that as a resource. Anyone have any disagreements with my interpretation of the style guide, or a compelling reason those lists should be kept? WeisheitSuchen (talk) 12:56, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article contain motto and mottoeng the sentence is not coming on one line pls someone make it so that it comes on the line.Thank You--For Loop (talk) 04:54, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
