NewsNet5 claims that "Their divorce was finalized on Nov. 12, 2015." This has not been backed up in any other sources, and the Plain Dealer, the New York Times, and Washington Post are more reliable than local TV news ([1], [2], [3]). I've changed the article accordingly, but go ahead and update if there are changes or other reliable sources that offer more information. SpencerT•C16:29, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Additional information: it seems based on the court docket [4] that a judgement was issues on Nov 12, 2015, but that the case was still ongoing. (I'm not familiar enough with law though to be sure whether this is true). SpencerT•C16:34, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I actually hadn't seen the contradictory reports at the time. I do believe the Dealer, Times, and Post to be mistaken, however. According to the court records, final decree of divorce was granted on 11/12/2015; this means the marriage was terminated at that point. There have been numerous docket entries since, but, going through them, they consist of post-judgment motions to modify payment and visitation conditions, contempt proceedings for failure to abide by the agreement, etc. Even in divorces not nearly as messy as this one, further legal action following the "finalization" of the divorce is not uncommon. It's likely that someone along the line misinterpreted this information and that the national papers were simply relying on the Dealer's reporting.
