Inclusion criteria and possible merge

It's unclear to me why the people in the "Cases by continent" section are listed there, and others aren't. WP:LISTPEOPLE says that such lists should only include notable people (which I interpret as having a Wikipedia article). WP:MEDCASE makes an exception for cases described in disease articles that are notable for other reasons.

Given the huge number of people not listed here, I wonder if it makes sense to trim this list to only include people with Wikipedia biographies, and then merge it with List of Ebola outbreaks. Patients who do not have Wikipedia articles could be mentioned on the article about the outbreak, or some other article, if the cases are especially notable. -- Beland (talk) 18:56, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge and oppose deleting cases. I disagree with deleting the cases as well as merging the content. There are different countries being documented here and it would clutter the main article to merge it. A separate list article is easier to maintain and is far more readable to leave it here. A small summary could be added to the main article or a link to be added to the main article if there is no link to this article. I do not see a benefit to trimming the content by more than half or merging to the content for our readers. I support expanding the article with more detail and possibly more cases. About the Third Opinion request: The request made at Third Opinion has been removed (i.e. declined). Like all other moderated content dispute resolution venues at Wikipedia, Third Opinion requires thorough talk page discussion before seeking assistance.
