Nick Fury

[edit]

shouldn't he be in a catagory for former SHEILD agents, since he left cause of the secret war.Phoenix741 17:35, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He will almost certainly be back, and besides, in the 40-year sum of his run, speaking encyclopedically as to defining who he is, "Nick Fury is a Marvel Comics superspy and the head of SHIELD." That may temporarily change, but his overall definiton doesn't. --Tenebrae 19:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How do you know that he will be back? WHat prof do you have of that. People thought that no matter, what spiderman would keep his secret identity, and look what happened there. He could be killed for all we know. And besides i still think we should show a list of former members like they did in the oringal sheild page, just to for information purposes.Phoenix741 19:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please read my above comment carefully: I said "almost certainly," the same as one would during DC's "Death of Superman" storyline. The second and more long-view part of my comment stands.
I know the Comics Project welcomes everyone who loves comics to join in and contribute, so, seriously, make whatever edits you feel are useful and informative (hopefully after reading up on the Wiki Manual of Style and the Comics Project editorial guidelines and exemplars). It's a give-and-take process, so other editors will go in and edit your edits, but that's all part of the fun. -- Tenebrae 19:47, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Something is missing.....

[edit]

Not to sound like a total jackass about this article, I mean it looks good been when I see other pages such as list of avengers members or x-men members it is all in charts and such showing when they joined and stuff. Do you think we could do something like this here?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Phoenix741 (talkcontribs)

Don't see why not, as long as it looks good and it's easy to read. --Tenebrae 20:07, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
well it is going to need some like MAJOR reworking and probley more reasearch, such as which issue they joined and everything. If you wana work togeather on this I can like take half of the people and you take the other half to do research.Phoenix741 20:13, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't I take the Silver Age & 1970s characters since I have a pretty good background on those. But first, do you know of any template for a grid that's not too boxy? Despite my best efforts, the listing I created at the bottom of Timely Comics (here) just looks awful. --
Well i was thinking I/we could take what they have from List of Avengers members. It does seem cheap, but it looks really good. So if you get silver age, I guese i got the modern age up to the new Ant-Man, also i wana add the ultimate shield roster form the shield page.Phoenix741 20:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The blue background does make it look a lot nicer. I think we really need to include images, though, since many of these characters will never get their own article. What if we remove the "Real name" field? That would create room on the side — but how do we code it so that the remaining columns don't simply expand to the right edge? -- Tenebrae 20:51, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is what i was thinking with the table.

Character Joined in Notes Image
name Comic Some Notes, also put if they are still part of SHIELD or not Put a small image here(i can look for alot of them, i am geting to be a master of google image search, lol)
Getting there! I'd suggest "Debut" instead of "Joined in".
Putting a note as to whether a character is current or not probably goes against WP:DATED, and I can see it being problemmatic in cases where we haven't seen a character in some time, but it doesn't mean they're not current.
However, the Notes category would be an excellent place to put the descriptors that are currently here.
Something like this maybe? (The images will help add space between the names, keeping the list from looking too bunched-up. Good call on that!)--Tenebrae 21:18, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Character Debut Notes Image
Thaddeus "Dum Dum" Dugan Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (July 1963) Third known executive director; former corporal of Fury's World War II squad Image
Clay Quartermain Strange Tales #167 (Dec. 1967) Former liaison officer, ""Hulkbusters" Hulk-hunting operations of U.S. Armed Forces; later supervisor for second incarnation of the Howling Commandos
nice, i think that will work perfectly. Also when i said about who is still in or not, i did nto mean if we have not seen them, i mean if they actually left, like Nick Fury, he was a part of shield, then since the Secret War, he is not. I mean ,metion if it is shown somewhere that they left shield. Also, truthfully i am not up to date on the main stream marvel (i am more of an ultimate fan, i have every copy), so i can make that chart and help some with the 616 shield, but not that much 8-/.Phoenix741 21:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK then. Since you went to the trouble of creating the template and you're volunteering to get images; I'll put this on the page and populate it with the information already there.
And yeah, we're on the same page, it sounds like. We can say Fury is "the second known executive director", and that'll always remain true no matter what transient events are going on in the comics. Cool! --Tenebrae 21:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, and i am going to add Ultimate S.H.I.E.L.D to this page and add images to it also, and then when you add the char tto everything else, i will start adding photos.

Sounds good. I'm done for now, and have prepped the Ultimate SHIELD table for you. --Tenebrae 22:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimate Clay Quartermain??

[edit]

I saw this on the regualr SHEILD page when i first did the transfer and i was a bit confused. I have read almost all of the Ultimate comics and I have never seen him. I left it up in case anyone else knew who he was, and I also did my own little bit of research, and I got squat. So does anyone know if this is true, or should i get rid of it? Phoenix741 20:17, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea I am going to get rid of it, till I find something about it.Phoenix741 00:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Assessed Importance

[edit]

Article's subject is of Low importance for being trivial. --Chris Griswold () 04:20, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trival? Trival?! TRIVAL!! yea your most likely right.Phoenix741 00:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! --Tenebrae

Gabe Jones is BLACK?!?

[edit]

(note: this is not meant to be racist)

I see that the image of Gabe Jones has been changed, and he is clearly black here. But in the article, the picture there is of a white person playing the bugle. What happened?Phoenix741 23:25, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And i just saw that in the article, it says he is black so now my question is, is the picture in the article right?

Gabe is indeed African-American, and the image at Gabe Jones is an oddly light-skinned depiction of what was generally depicted as a fairly dark-complected man. It's also an early, not particularly good picture at Gabe's site — I'll try to find a Dick Ayers-John Severin image that's more represenative of his Fury run.--Tenebrae 23:40, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will look for one to. But really wow, that was confusing...Phoenix741 00:11, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea I just replaced it. What do you think.Phoenix741 02:18, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Works for me, at least. I'll take a look at the original cover (I think it's Sgt. Fury #53 or #56, from the 1960s; this one's a reprint) and see if it pops out as much as this reprint. I thinkt he original borders were dark blue, rather than this vibrant red. Nice job, buddy! Hey, what do you think of my Jimmy Woo flipped image (so that he's not looking off the page)?--Tenebrae 01:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It works, looks beter than what we had before. Kinda just Can't wait till we get every row filled with a picture.Phoenix741 01:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since the civil war is over.

[edit]

I think every superhero on the pro-reg side is now a member a S.H.E.I.L.D. So what does that mean for this page. Should we add a new section like

Post Civil-War

[edit]

or just make a comment about it, before the list starts?

NOT just for Decoration.

[edit]

The plan is to have every chart have a picture so that way the lesser known agents can be identified. If yo feel this is not happening the please by all means add some more pictures.Phoenix741 11:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, as per Wikipedia:Non-free content under "Policy" and the clarification under "Examples of unacceptable use", this is an unacceptable use of non-free use images.
The best suggestion, if there are not articles already existent for the "lesser known agents", then a "Minor Agent's of SHIELD" article along the lines of Characters of Final Fantasy IX is a better way to go. The image use there would be as justifiable as the main infoboxes on main character pages. Yes, they would be identification, but they would also be used in conjunction with discussion of the section topics. - J Greb 16:48, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I see there the prohibition against "the use of non-free media in lists" such as "charts or graphs". Thanks for the links, JG.
I guess it should be easy enough — albeit very time-consuming — to take the information and make it into paragraph form and use the images in the same manner as in Characters of Final Fantasy IX. Or do we want to just leave the chart as it is currently (sans images)? In and of itself, it's a pretty useful chart. --Tenebrae 13:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Keep the chart fot now, but I really want to do the images.Phoenix741 13:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Small clarification: I'm not suggesting ditching the chart/table list or this page. It does serve a valid function in correlating the roster of agents, including the more notable member (ie those that have their own articles such as Fury, Dugan, the Countess, Karma, etc). The minor agents/characters article would allow for expanded information for the agents that have, or would have, article that would be stuck at a "Stub" or "Start" state for lack of information. That also reduces the new articles potential size since it wouldn't have to rehash the major agents. - J Greb 16:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Still going to be A LOT of work to make.Phoenix741 17:04, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dum Dum Dugan

[edit]

I'm not sure why you're reverting "Timothy" to "Thaddeus". I think you're confusing Dugan with Thunderbolt Ross. Every comic I've seen that mentions his name gives "Timothy". Could you provide a citation if different? Thanks. --Tenebrae 19:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Falcon

[edit]

When was he a member of SHIELD? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.28.164.79 (talk) 21:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When he was formally asked by Cap to train the first Super-Agents of SHIELD in his stead. Satyrquaze (talk) 21:25, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

When did the format change?

[edit]

When did we decided that the format should go back to the list form. The format that was decided it should not be, and the reason why we put in all the tables and such?-- Phoenix741(Talk Page) 20:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who the hell is Jacob "Ski" Strzeszewski?

[edit]

Doesn't have a page at the Marvel Wikia. I've read all the Ultimate titles and I've never seen in any of those. So he's definitely not a character in the Ultimate Universe. I suspect he doesn't exist in the 616 either. The Secretary of Funk (talk) 19:20, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cameron Klein

[edit]

"Cameron Klein – Grade T-7 technician. Became field agent and helped capture supervillain Cache.[64] Featured in the live action episode 2.07 "The Writing on the Wall" of the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Played by Joel Gretsch, the agent has had his memory erased and believes his name is now Hank Thompson."

There's probably a simple answer. But I heard "Cameron Klein" was in Captain America: Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age Of Ultron too. Is the Marvel Universe making a mistake.

Columns

[edit]

Why columns? Doesn't that look odd with mobile devices? It sure does with a PC. Any objections to removing these columns? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:22, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete sentence, entry for Norman Osborn under article section 1.1?

[edit]

Under article section 1.1 Executive directors and secretaries, the line item entry looks truncated for:

Norman Osborn[7] – Ninth known executive director. Takes up position after

Can anyone complete the last sentence please?

Categories and Citations

[edit]

This article is in _major_ need of an overhaul. Civil War was 15 years ago. Pre and Post Civil War distinction is meaningless. It's great that there are citations, but almost all citations are wrong, noting the character's first appearance and not the character's first appearance as a member of SHIELD.
