Dedicated articles for each bus route?[edit]

The streetcars routes all have their dedicated article, but it appears that bus routes do not. Perhaps we should add them? Andrepoiy (talk) 03:03, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. The streetcars are notable, however bus routes aren't. No one cares that a bus route "78 St.Andrews" exists. And I wouldn't make a page for just like 2 of the notable ones, because that would just be annoying for readers.
There are other sites like the cptdb wiki anyway, if they want it, its there. Humulator (talk) 03:48, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Route classifications[edit]

On its website, the TTC classifies bus routes as regular service, limited service, express network, community Bus and Blue Night Network. The TTC uses this classification on TTC bus stop poles as well as online. The Wikipedia article List of Toronto Transit Commission bus routes classifies routes as regular service (including limited service but excluding frequent service and seasonal service), frequent service (10-Minute Network), seasonal service, Express Network, Blue Night and community bus. I have changed the Toronto Transit Commission bus system article to define and use the TTC classifications. The result is that the number of regular routes is 141 (unsure how is this computed) according to the Wikipedia classification while the number of regular and limited service routes is 132 according to the TTC classification (by counting the routes on the TTC bus routes listing). Thus, there is now an inconsistency between the two articles. The options appear to be (1) leave the inconsistency, (2) erase the TTC classifications including counts and definitions (where conflicting with the Wikipedia classification) from the Toronto Transit Commission bus system article, or (3) change the table in List of Toronto Transit Commission bus routes to reflect the TTC classification putting characteristics such as seasonal service and 10-Minute Network in the comments column. What is the preference? @Blaixx, Johnny Au, and Joeyconnick: Classification of TTC bus routes. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 19:15, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer the 3rd option. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 22:44, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Third option. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 04:53, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely option #3 since that follows the sources. —Joeyconnick (talk) 07:27, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The reclassification is complete. For routes on the 10-Minute Network, I did not try to designate whether each branch of the route had 10-minute service or better. Thus, the caption "10-Minute Network" was put under the route name route rather than in the Notes column which is sub-divided by branch. There is a lot of red colour in the table as that is the colour the TTC uses for regular routes. I probably could do a better job on the intro, and perhaps I will revise it later. With few exceptions, I did not verify the accuracy of the pre-existing data; some seems unsourced or perhaps from an uncited service summary. @Blaixx, Johnny Au, and Joeyconnick: Reclassification completed. Thanks. It's looking great. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 14:57, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Downtown express routes[edit]

On October 30, 2021, User:Blaixx deleted the downtown express buses (141-145) from the table saying "They do not appear on the TTC website or route maps and there are no service advisories indicating that they are temporarily suspended", which is so. User 184.146.39.97 has reversed that mod saying the routes still appear on service summaries, which is also so. However, I prefer the Blaixx mod since the TTC has removed the downtown express routes from the bus route list and system map on the customer website. Also the TTC has printed maps for bus waiting shelters also omit routes 141-145. So should we delete downtown express routes (again) from the table? @Blaixx, Johnny Au, and Joeyconnick: Please comment. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 01:07, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

From what I understand of our discussion above, deleting them is in keeping with that consensus. —Joeyconnick (talk) 03:26, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per the reasons discussed at Talk:Toronto streetcar system#Delisted streetcar routes, I am still in favour of removing. BLAIXX 04:31, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Its still online via the Service Summary with the most recent one out from October 2021. I get the point Blaixx the service summaries also listed along with route 176/508/903. —184.146.39.97 (talk) 07:55, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The Service Summary is more of an internal document not intended to provide customers with service info. Thus, the TTC might not keep it as up-to-date as pages on the customer website. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 14:58, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, it's better to remove downtown express routes. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 15:21, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think we have sufficient agreement to delete 141-145, so I will proceed to do so. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 15:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 01:41, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The list should be sorted on the west-east routes starting with west, then east[edit]

Currently its east then west. Doesn't make sense. However, that would be really time-consuming to fix. Opinions? Humulator (talk) 03:50, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
