The least we can do

[edit]

For the memories of the deceased is to have a proper covering here so that people looking for information on their sad fate may come across a good article in Wikipedia. I have begun trying to develop this article. It needs more hands to eliminate typos, fill the lacking info and find good sources to develop the text. I began with some minor corrections of translation from Turkish and wrote a short lead. This also enabled me to remove the template considering that lack of lead. I thank, in advance, everybody who will help me with this article. I permit myself to state the following: We should not make distinctions between terrorists (good or bad terrorists, our boys - your guys etc) and make good articles for their innocent victims. All the best. --E4024 (talk) 23:05, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There are some mistakes, I'll correct it coming months. I'll start with Kemal Arikan (killed 28

Terrorist vs. militant

[edit]

The terrorist label is POV. Please see WP:LABEL. --Երևանցի talk 17:22, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is this all? Are you expecting to convince the WP community to your POV with this argument? --E4024 (talk) 23:24, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Again. See WP:LABEL. It clearly states "Value-laden labels—such as calling an organization a cult, an individual a racist, terrorist, or freedom fighter, or a sexual practice a perversion—may express contentious opinion and are best avoided unless widely used by reliable sources to describe the subject, in which case use in-text attribution. " --Երևանցի talk 23:47, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Any difficulty in finding sources that call the ASALA terrorists as terrorists? How many years this article stayed here under this title? --E4024 (talk) 23:51, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is it hard to find sources calling al-Qaeda a terrorist organization? The article says it is "a global militant Islamist organization". It's all about labeling. The label "terrorist" is POV itself, even if 99% of the sources describe it as such. --Երևանցի talk 23:53, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This one? "It has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations Security Council, NATO, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and various other countries (see below)." You are far away from being convincing. --E4024 (talk) 00:01, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You don't seem to get the point. Just because it was called a terrorist organization by the US, UK, EU, etc. doesn't make it a terrorist organization for everyone. The US is not the world police and their opinion is their opinion, not the whole world's. Al-Qaeda is also called a terrorist organization by the US, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not the CIA World Factbook. The Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia and the Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide are militant organizations, considered terrorist by X, Y, Z. --Երևանցի talk 00:09, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So, in your opinion, Hitler was just a political leader; right, thanks. Your name "Yerevancı" says it all. Todd (talk) 07:18, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved. But no prejudice against a new RM debating the merits of Apteva's suggestion. Jenks24 (talk) 09:44, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've also changed it in the first line of the request. --BDD (talk) 19:35, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing definitive about a 1989 list published by one state. That list, for example, excludes any mention of terrorist organisations created, funded or sponsored by the United States of America. The fact that a particular state many years ago called a particular organisation 'terrorist' does not mean that Wikipedia should use the same term now in the title of an article that lists several incidents not all of which involved that particular group. Portraits

[edit]

Including portrait images of assassinated people in the Wikipedia article "List of Turkish diplomats assassinated by Armenian militant organizations" is important because it provides a visual representation of the individuals who lost their lives in these events. The images help readers understand the real impact of these assassinations and ensure that the victims are not reduced to just names on a list. Removing the portraits could detract from the significance of the article and fail to acknowledge the human toll of these violent acts. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the portraits as a way to remember those who were affected by these events in a dignified and respectful manner. Katakana546 (talk) 13:58, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
