Importance of the article

[edit]

The article should not be listed as low-importance regarding food and drink, as there is a raising movement for foraging for plants, specially in my home country, Brazil, in which they are called "PANCs", Plantas alimentícias não convencionais. I never edited on Wikipedia before, but I would be glad to write in Portuguese the list of forageable plants, for humans, since the translation of the term to Portuguese is "forrageamento" it's only used for animals, specially bird food; even as the indigenous native people foraged for food before the colonization of Brazil, it's not cultural relevant to forage for food in this country, however it's acquiring more relevance with the book of Valdely Ferreira Kinupp, "Plantas Alimentícías Não Convencionais (Panc) no Brasil". I was flabbergasted when there wasn't a direct translation to the meaning of foraging for food (as humans). Maybe "forrageamento" can mean looking for wild for as well, in Portuguese, in the future. I'm making a plea contextualizing locally, but you can make yours accordingly to your region. Ex. food deserts, poverty, ecology, culture, etcetera. As I never edited an Wikipedia article before, I would copy the model of the one in English and translate each section and also adding the local food (plants) written on the book I mentioned as reference and referencing their Wikipedia article if they exist. I think if enough people make their plea, the importance of the list would rise and more resource for foraging for food would be available as easy, no ads, free information worldwide; on the corner of the internet.
