I concede that the USFS doesn't have a monopoly on forest inventories ... so if someone wants to propose and defend alternative inventories, I have no problem with that. I'd prefer to keep the current page title, but as a fall-back position, if necessary, the page could have a title that focuses only on Silvics of North America (1991). The 1991 inventory hasn't been superseded, and probably never will be, because the trend in the US has shifted away from fixed inventory lists and toward relying on databases that produce custom-made inventories after you select the characteristics you're looking for. - Dank (push to talk) 22:28, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My sources generally say that conifers account for roughly 80% of harvested timber in North America. But the percentage can change from year to year, so I didn't mention a specific percentage in the list. - Dank (push to talk) 23:16, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tallies of image licenses: some were covered at ~~all the images marked as "Yes, it's in Canada's inventory" in the third column of the table were covered at~~ WP:Featured list candidates/List of forest-inventory conifers in Canada/archive1. For the rest, the tally is: 50 are marked "own work", 26 are from Flickr, 12 from the US government (public domain), 1 from www.public-domain-image.com, 1 from iNaturalist, 1 from Panoramio, and 1 (a Sequoia image) from 500px.com. - Dank (push to talk) 04:16, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This used to be two lists (west and east); now it's merged into one list. That added 7 rows with 28 images not already covered in the Canada list or the Western US list: Abies fraseri, Chamaecyparis thyoides, Pinus nigra, Pinus pungens, Pinus serotina, Pinus sylvestris and Torreya taxifolia. For these, the image license tallies are: 18 are labeled "own work", 5 come from iNaturalist, 4 from Flickr, and 1 from Gardenology.org. - Dank (push to talk) 19:50, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
