Temple Israel in Staten Island / Section needs work

[edit]

This section needs some work obviously. It has no content, just a title for the section. I will try to research this to try and improve the section. Also, maybe we can expand this article beyond a stub.WacoJacko (talk) 04:32, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any input??WacoJacko (talk) 07:46, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Set index article vs. disambig

[edit]

This article seems to be a wp:sia rather than a disambiguation page. It certainly does not comply with guidelines for disambiguation pages (wp:MOSDAB). So I'll change its categorization, and start, also, a disambiguation page, at Temple Israel (disambiguation). doncram (talk) 19:53, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal in 2016

[edit]

There was fairly extensive discussion back in 2010 by editors including User:Jayjg and myself, about this list-article as a set index article vs. the separate disambiguation page at Temple Israel. It was complicated by antagonism between myself and another editor. It's all old stuff now and I think we can look at it afresh. And/or look at it like Jayjg seems to have, back in 2010, as opposed to how I saw it then, by my reading now.

Noting

  • good questioning back in 2010 about having this at all (at this Talk, at Talk:Temple Israel, and at AFD on this), though this was kept
  • there was no serious development of this as a set-index article since 2010, and it only ever covers some U.S. ones
  • no development of similar set-index articles on Beth Israel or other synagogue names,
  • development of List of synagogues in the United States (which was not yet started, or was barely started, back in 2010)
  • how lots of other places of religious worship lists have developed (List of mosques, List of Presbyterian churches, etc.)

I think it is time to pull the plug on this one, and merge its content into List of synagogues in the United States. (And confirm that all entries here are covered in Temple Israel disambiguation page.) Anyone wanting to compile a list of synagogues named Temple Israel or named anything else can do so by consulting the List of synagogues system.

I don't expect there will be any objection but I'll pause for any discussion before implementing this. --doncram 06:57, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like the thing to do. This list doesn't offer any informational value that you wouldn't get from a normal disambiguation page on the phrase. Ou phrontis (talk) 02:26, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
