Source policies[edit]

I have been following these terror attack lists for a long time and used to find them to be a great source of information, but I feel that they are being ruined by the edit policies that require any source to explicitly use the term terrorism. This was also appropriately discussed by the user JBergsma1 on the April talk page.

If ISIS suicide bombings on civilians are no longer considered terror attacks, just because the sources don't care to call them that anymore (maybe for fear of pointing out the obvious), then the list is useless for many intents and purposes. One recent example that was removed: https://apnews.com/0874fe417cab4767831a092a12483769

I have been wondering why the number of attacks went down between 2016 and 2017 and these policies now appear be the primary reason. Maybe 10 more vehicle ramming attacks by ISIS sympathizers down the road, we will no longer point out that they are terror attacks, because at that point vehicle ramming attacks by ISIS sympathizes are implicitly understood to be terror attacks. Will that mean we have eradicated this type of terror attack?

Anyway, I understand that this is not going to change. Can anyone recommend Wikipedia alternatives with lists that are more similar to the earlier lists, without going too far in adding any and every public violent attack either? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trpl (talk • contribs) 12:21, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@NeilN: Am I in the wrong for removing these? ([1]) I kept the Boko Haram and ISIL ones, but this list is basically nay event that uses non-traditional attack methods. Need for colour coding[edit]

Is there really a need to colour code the list into categories of death/injury toll?
