No citation provided for separation from wife
[edit]The article currently states,
“An out lesbian, Segato married Ilana Landsberg-Lewis, the daughter of journalist Michele Landsberg and politician and diplomat Stephen Lewis and the sister of journalist Avi Lewis, in 2009.[8] They have since separated.”
There is no citation provided that they have actually separated.

- It's true that there's no citation provided — and indeed none can be found at all, because it just didn't get reported as news — but the problem was that shortly after they broke up, the article went through several months of persistent vandalism that attempted to completely strip out the fact that the marriage had ever even occurred at all, which is inappropriate as that's also the only sourcing that the article currently has to support her self-identification as lesbian. If we can find another source for that, then we could wipe out the marriage entirely — but if we wipe it out without finding alternative sourcing for her being lesbian, then the article couldn't even describe or categorize her as LGBT at all anymore. - I looked into this and was able to find a source for her orientation that didn't hinge on her marriage and didn't exist yet at the time of the original dispute, so I've cited that new source and removed the stuff about the relationship. Bearcat (talk) 15:49, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. I know it’s true but I thought it should be sourced.
- Here’s a bunch of links about them as a couple/the marriage:
- They were married on September 20th, 2009. As a blog I’m not sure if this is a viable source per Wikipedia rules.
- Here’s reference to them being partners:
- And some others that explicitly state marriage:

- Still together in 2013:

- Moved back to the Hamilton area around 2019:

- I haven’t run a thorough search on the divorce part (no time right now). I do know she outs herself in a number of recent podcasts but you have a source for that now so it’s fine.

- Other article about relocation to Hamilton (technically Dundas) area, date confirmed 2021:

- If you want to put it back in go ahead. I suspect it was deliberately scrubbed and the persistent vandalism at the time was part of that. Might be ok now. No actual date though.
