Article move

[edit]

I inserted a source (in french, alas) which states explicitly that she has been using only her first name, professionnally, for about 20 years (though she did use her surname as a child actress). Indeed, film credits and posters only mention Maïwenn, not Maïwenn Le Besco. I renamed the page Maïwenn (actress) rather than just Maïwenn, because Maïwenn is a given name in France, which can be used by other people (it is not a very common one, granted, but it is used in Brittany). The result of the move request was: moved to Maïwenn. Favonian (talk) 11:08, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

– I First thought that Maïwenn (actress) would be a better title than just Maïwenn but after thinking over it, I think the disambiguation is not necessary. Maïwenn does exist as a first name in France, but it is fairly rare, and this page's subject is the only person who used only the given name Maïwenn as a stage name. Moreover, there are no other articles about people names Maïwenn on the english wikipedia, so the chances of confusion are slim. I should point out that the french article has also been renamed Maïwenn - instead of Maïwenn (actrice) - and that it has posed no problem, as she is so far the only notable person in France who happens to use that name, or even to have it as her given name.
