Maai and Zen

[edit]

This article was placed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Buddhism, based on its inclusion in Category:Zen. I don't think that either is appropriate, what is the consensus about this? —Leo Laursen ( T | C ) 13:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have now removed template WikiProject Buddhism.—Leo Laursen ( T ¦ C ) 06:22, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correctness of translation

[edit]

Someone put this in the article. Not knowing Japanese, I can't vouch for its accuracy, but if it is, can anyone correct the article as needed?

Maai (間合い?), translating simply to "interval", IS NOT REALLY CORRECT:
Ma ai means: Ma means space and time.
Ai, means to join, to fit together, meeting or harmony.
Maai, means the effective, harmonius, or proper distance.

Its (Ma)(A)I, so basically "Proper Distancing" would be the better form for the term in English as it refers to the Proper Distance To Land A Strike or an Effective Technique but that is a mouthful as far as a concept goes. 2001:14BA:6212:B400:5C87:BCFA:816D:B02C (talk) 05:17, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Proper Distancing/Spacing rather either one works as its a descriptive term. 2001:14BA:6212:B400:5C87:BCFA:816D:B02C (talk) 05:18, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What is "itto-ma" ???

[edit]

The kanji is presumed to be 一刀間.

I'm not able to confirm existence of the word.

Also, this article in Japanese ver. doesn't not include the word.

Does this word exist?

Please verify. Beniyui (talk) 01:53, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
