Blackburn[edit]

Matin taylor started out at Blackburn Rovers, not Blackburn Rangers....NO idea what Blackburn Rangers are....

Blackburn Rangers was the name given when Graeme Souness was in charge of them, becuase he had a habit of signing ex-Rangers players.

Original research[edit]

Perhaps the editor(s) who keep adding an original analysis of the Eduardo "incident" could please read WP:OR, the bit that starts "Wikipedia does not publish original research or original thought. This includes unpublished facts, arguments, speculation, and ideas; and any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position." There are blogs, forums, sites which welcome well-written submissions, many places to publish your analysis of why Eduardo sustained his awful injury; however, Wikipedia is specifically not one of those places. Revert[edit]

Hi! I reverted this edit first, because I thought its a blanking of a vandal. But afterwards I've read the reason and the content properly and I reverted myself back asuming good faith. I have re-added the text as it concentrates on the reaction to the tackle and the ramifications of the tackle on Taylor. This is a key moment in Taylor's football career, being one of the main reasons for his notability/notoriety. It is all well-cited, and to me, is not putting too much undue weight on the incident, though it could be trimmed a little bit. Woody (talk) 15:06, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So you are suggesting that after the tackle Taylor was famous. Are you saying that Taylor did the tackle on purpose to gain fame? Do you know that, that comment could be seen as libelous? It is putting to much weight on the situation. It's not really needed at minimum it should be trimmed. It is not a important part in the player's career something important say in this guy's career is winning medals or helping his team gain three points. Compromise?[edit]

The incident was a major event in Taylor's career, unfortunately, so the article has to cover it in enough detail so the reader can follow what happened, and it has to maintain a neutral point of view. I've now trimmed it to one para explaining what happened; three sentences of reactions; and one sentence about FIFA.

It can't leave out Wenger's initial reaction, or other adverse reaction, or the death threats, or McLeish, Bendtner and Bruce's pro-Taylor statements. They're all relevant. Kovac was the Croatia international captain, and what he said reflected a widespread reaction in Croatia; something may have been lost in translation, but there's no evidence it was. Agreed the journalists bit is excessive detail. Blatter's involvement needs to stay, because the FA refusing to increase the ban despite FIFA getting involved is directly relevant to the effect of the incident on Taylor's career. Eduardo broken leg incident[edit]

I think now is the correct time to remove this information. Many of the links to the incident are broken. Indeed Birmingham player Liam Ridgewell has had his leg broken but that's not in his bio.
