Arrest issue

[edit]

I can see that there's a dispute over Tauiliili's earlier arrest. All I can do is reference the Good Article-rated Mark Sanchez piece that works in an arrest into the player's career. As such, I would strongly advise caution in not sensationalizing the incident, rather it should be brought down to its base facts, and only given the amount of space as relevant to its effect on his career. Obviously, a player like Todd Marinovich was seriously impacted by his legal issues, but then players like Colt Brennan were able to get by some serious accusations. As Tauiliili's career develops (and I'm simply assuming notability in good faith at this point), the impact of this arrest should be put in perspective. For example: the media was still mentioning Sanchez' incident (albeit briefly) in their pre-NFL Draft articles, but it wasn't that big of an impact. So I think an arrest isn't irrelevant, but the space devoted to it should be relative to its actual impact. --Bobak (talk) 18:04, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Do you think this article sensationalizes the arrest as currently written? I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but "should be brought down" seems to imply that. If one does a Google news search for Tauiliili, they will see that the arrest has been given a large amount of weight in comparison with his actual career accomplishments. Put it in that perspective and I think it's clear that this article is not overly focused upon it. In my opinion, the part about the incident addresses just the basic facts: his charges and his punishment. Strikehold (talk) 22:23, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
