Although one of the reliable source, national-football-teams.com, says that He have been a player of Kitchee for a season, it is not true. He have never been in Kitchee. From the squad lists of Kitchee in Kitchee official website and Hong Kong Football Association official website at that time, we can know that he was not in Kitchee. --FootballHK (talk) 14:13, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]Per Wikipedia policy regarding categorization, which is explained in depth at WP:CAT (see specifically: Wikipedia:Categorization#Subcategorization) —
1. Category:College men's soccer players in the United States is a parent category of
2. Category:Robert Morris University alumni is a parent category of
In categorization, is is redundant and against policy to include someone in both their subcategory as well as parent category. "Category:College men's soccer players in the United States" is specifically made for subdiffusion of different schools' player categories, and only for individual players when those individual players' schools do not have their respective men's soccer player categories. Furthermore, a men's soccer player at Robert Morris University is inherently an alumnus of the school and so the defining subcategory should be used at the exclusion of the parent alumni category. I find it hard to believe that this is such a difficult concept for editors to grasp, especially ones who have been around for so long. To further expound upon this point, read Talk:Jon Stewart/Archive 3#Soccer Player. User:SummerPhD brilliantly breaks down why it's against policy and common sense to include Jon Stewart in the W&M alumni category as well as the men's soccer player category. Once again, as if this isn't enough, WP:CAT gives the full explanation of this policy. Jrcla2 (talk) 18:38, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Further comment – I'm clearly not the only one who understands this, because others have attempted to remove said parent categories (see article edit history for details). User:GiantSnowman is the one who is going against how to categorize articles, not everyone else. Jrcla2 (talk) 18:41, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- I raised this as an issue somewhere, can't remember where because it was a year ago, but my thinking does not change - he was still an alumnus, regardless of his soccer career there or not. It is MORE accurate, and better for the project, to have him in more categories. I'm not concerned about Category:College men's soccer players in the United States, but still feel that Category:Robert Morris University alumni should be restored.
