May 21 Faction
[edit]The conflict journalist group Popular Front have reported the founding of a reconstituted militant faction, the "FLNC May 21" (https://www.instagram.com/p/COgSLXxLIez/). Perhaps mention this? 2601:642:C481:4640:C19D:3380:BE67:5D97 (talk) 23:30, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Partially failed verification on antisemitism
[edit]The RFI article cited for this claim establishes that antisemitic, pro-FLNC graffiti was found in Corsica. That does not seem to equate, however to a verifiable stance of the organization as a whole—the graffiti could plausibly have been written by an individual member or sympathizer. The article also does not directly claim (nor deny) that the FLNC was responsible. As antisemitism is a serious charge, I am going to remove this claim within a few days unless someone can add additional sources demonstrating that the graffiti represents the stance of the FLNC, or other sources establishing an antisemitic stance. - Adding to this, an alliance - even a formal one - with Hamas does not constitute antisemitism on its own, as Palestinian independentists have throughout history been allies of European communist and otherwise far-left movements (see: RAF, BR). FalBuru (talk) 14:12, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- The FLNC as a whole has nothing to do with communism or far left movements though, as said in the article there are even some branches of it that are “far right”… Aliy Dawut (talk) 17:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Also, the FLNC does not support Hamas or any major Palestinian group for that matter that I’ve seen Aliy Dawut (talk) 17:45, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- In fact, the group seems to have sour relations with Islamist groups, as recently noted in my additions they threatened ISIS and broadly other Islamist groups if they attempted any attacks in Corsica, which seemed to have been largely successful in deterring them as we never saw any major Islamist terror attacks in Corsica, funnily enough Aliy Dawut (talk) 17:46, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Eh, I still don’t see a reason to just remove content with multiple citations like that, I think a more fair solution would be to re add the material but note it is not confirmed; such as “antisemitism (allegedly)” or something of the sort. Thoughts? Aliy Dawut (talk) 17:44, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
No citations for allies
[edit]The page lacks citations for allies, which is a problem especially because it lists the Italian government as one, even though nothing on the page mentions anything related to this. Also, Italy is apart of NATO, which is clearly listed as one of the enemies. Djt jrb (talk) 04:51, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
Libya did not support the FLNC
[edit]I’ve removed this unsourced and seemingly false claim for now, if someone has any sourced evidence to the contrary, feel free to reply here. Thanks for your understanding Aliy Dawut (talk) 17:40, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- I know this is an old comment, but I wanted to leave a reply and state my own thoughts. Gaddafi’s Libya likely did support the FLNC and the FLNC-Canal Historique, based on both the weapons they used and French internal investigations. This CIA documentdiscusses links between the FLNC and both Libya and Czechoslovakia, as well as links to other paramilitaries (PKK, PIRA, ETA, TLL). Gaddafi also had a habit of supporting and arming separatist rebels in Europe, gifting weapons to the PIRA and providing support to Spanish guerrillas.
