Operational data update: As of August 31, 2015, New Oriental has built 62 language educational schools 25 book stores, over 5,000 third-party bookstores and 721 learning centers in 52 cities in China. According to statistics, there were about 22.6 million students who had studied in New Oriental by 2015 since its founding in 1993. Chairman: Michael, Yu Minhong Founder, CEO & Chairman Mr. Yu, born October 15, 1962, a Chinese National and was appointed CEO and Chairman of the company starting in 1993. He started his career at Peking University in 1985. He founded New Oriental in 1993 after he left Peking University. He is vice chairman of Beijing Young Entrepreneurs Association (note: the chairman is known to the public, especially the Chinese people, as Yu Minhong, and to the English audience, as Michael Yu.
